Next level help?
Hey gang. So this is me; homebrew beginner in 2020 when quarantine made all stores near me… insane. I currently use 2 Home Depot bucket DIY fermenters, and bottle in growlers from local breweries (which I have learned is inappropriate although it works like a charm). Any recommendations for kegging ...

Re: Corbonation bottle help
...even when they say "great for homebrewing?" Does that mean great for bottling in something else, and pouring into these growlers for a few days?

Re: Corbonation bottle help
When I went to 5 gallon batches, I bought a kegerator. My bottling was kind of a journey. I started with PET bottles, then went to flippies (grolsch, fishers, etc), then finally glass bottles with a capper. ok thanks. So why would growler glass be more dangerous than craft beer bottles? Not sure if...

Re: Corbonation bottle help
ok thanks. So why would growler glass be more dangerous than craft beer bottles? Not sure if I should stop something that is working just because a few home brewers said it's not a good idea.

Corbonation bottle help
I have been homebrewing with BD and similar easy kits for a couple years. I made a post about growler cap suggestions - I have been carbonating my wort after fermentation in 32 and 64 oz growlers. -Yep, growlers. Just using my judgement, they seemed sturdier than the thin plastic bottles that came w...

Re: Growler cap recs needed
Thanks for the cap tips. I am a little surprised at the surprise of bottling in growlers. I just use growlers sold at my local breweries, and the top rated couple of brands on Amazon... all held well over a year through many carbonation processes during COVID. One burst one time but I thought it got...

Growler cap recs needed
Growler cap recommendations? All I have tried so far is Amazon (US) with the plastic polyseal that wore out in about a year, and a metal replacement which is paper thin and did not stay tight which led to a flat brew. I bottle/carbonate in 32 and 64 ounce growlers. Thanks for the help!

Hey guys! I am fermenting 4 gallons of BD's Irish Stout, and just realized the temp for the last few days has been about 60 degrees F instead of that 64 - 82 degree window they suggest. How bad is this? What could go wrong? I am a novice, usually ferment for a couple weeks. Thanks for any info you c...

BrewDemon 2 Gal Fermenter Ideas
Hey guys. I started some simple home brewing when COVID hit with that 2 gal cone shaped deal. It's cool, but a bit of a small yield for the effort and wait time. I DIY'd a couple of 4 gallon fermenters, and all is well. Now I am wondering how to little cone deal could be of use. Anyone every use tha...

powdered Peanut BUtter?
HEy folks, I've had some good luck with non-boiild beginner kits for stouts, namely BD. I add some cold brewed coffee and cocoa powder to the wort, and love the results. Recently saw powdered peanut butter in Costco - wondering if that is a good idea for another ingredient. Anyone have experience wi...

Re: 1st time it stinks.
Thanks so much both of you guys. The yeast is brewferm's Union Yack, very fruity. The reek was definitely on the sulfur/egg/yeasty side, and is either fading or I am adapting to it. Maybe a hint of licorice threw me off, which is a feature of this beer. I feel much better about the scent, and am def...

1st time it stinks.
Hey folks. Rookie brewer, having fun since Covid (March 2020) between Brew Demon and BrewFerm no-boil kits. For the first time ever, my wort smells like something spoiled. It is only 48 hours old, pitched yeast at the right temp, stored in a cooler in a garage that has been between 65 and 73 degrees...

Yeast Question
Still a bit of a freshman brewer, sticking to the starter kits with BD and the like. Problem: I have a BrewFerm Flemish Fiend kit but I lost the yeast. Question: What kind of yeast should I use, and how much? – this is a 3 gallon recipe. Their Flemish (brown) Fiend uses their brand of yeast called U...

Re: Cocoa Stout Beginner Brainstorm
Thanks all! I went with unsweetened hersheys cocoa powder and a liter of cold brewed coffee into the wort and it is maybe the best thing I ever made. I appreciated the advice!
