Mandarina Bavaria

Good morning BORG! :borg: Just received a 1/2 pound of Mandarina hops... the reason I purchased them was I had a beer at Dogfish Head restaurant last year that was mad e with Mandarina, and I thought it was an excellent beer. Can't find anything about it on line or I'm just not looking well enough. ...

Re: What are you brewing/bottling?

Hello BORG! :borg: Brewed for the first time in four months and did my first extract recipe in five years yesterday, a blonde ale... Went extract so I could brew indoors since it was 8F here yesterday morning. Didn't work out so well...ended up outside on the propane burner anyway, since my stove co...

Re: Royal oak vs Kingsford Blue

Thanks Berryman... I already knew some but not all of that history, and it was eye opening! The reason I asked this question was Sam's had two Kingsford 19.5lb bags for 14.99 and Lowe's had Royal Oak for 5.99 for a 15.4 lb bag... virtually a wash per lb price wise. This morning I bought Kingsford fo...

What I really noticed about the dates was how many of us, fed up with the old
forum, joined at approximately the same time...

Royal oak vs Kingsford Blue

Hello BORG! :borg:

Just a quick question for all the BBQ gurus on the board...
have any of you used Royal Oak briquettes and if so, how in your opinion,
do they compare to Kingsford?

Re: Best instaread thermometer

Thanks for the input and advise, kinda looking at a Thermopop.

Every website I've seen has given them extremely high ratings and they don't
break the bank.

Best instaread thermometer

Dumped my reliable and dependable Polder oven thermometer in the wort yesterday.... Need a new one and I'm seeing that instaread's are approximately the same price as the one I killed... Bought a Harbor cheapy a few months backand it's off by three degrees, so I can't depend on it. Any sugges...

King Griller, made by Char Griller.

I'm pretty sure they're the same product under a different name. This one has a
side cart attached. Very handy!

My Father's Day gift in action!

Afternoon BORG! :borg: LOML got this for me for Father's Day and I have done some ribs on it before now, but today it's spatchcock chicken! It was the floor model at Home Depot. She talked them down $50 and used her Dad's military discount to get it for $235! :jumpy: It is a small learning curve to ...

Re: Strange fermentation or lack thereof

There are always aberrations. That's where I am now... The last batch I used S04 on was a smoked porter and that thing roared...had to have a blowoff tube. Screwy, these "things" are in the sample I pull for gravity readings. I get that from the spigot so it is at the bottom of the bucket...

Re: Strange fermentation or lack thereof

Thanks for the responses guys... I've just never had a fermentation either peak that quickly and/or not show much outwardly visible signs it happened at all. I do remember now, Tuesday morning I checked for bubbles and got an aroma of hops around the bucket... so I'm leaning to there is a leak somew...
