Re: Update on where I'm at and where am going.

There are all sorts of gizmos I would like to play with, but when it comes to just making beer, I'm having such good results just doing my Mash & Boil + overnight slow chill process and my "mini cooper" fermenters that I can just throw in the dishwasher to clean that I don't feel the u...

Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?

Well I didn't brew the Pliney clone, instead I brewed a dark winter lager, because I had lager yeast but no ale yeast. So Pliney will be next. Next I say.

Re: What are you drinking?

I just poured a glass of the pliny clone that I kegged back in 6/29. I kinda forgot that I still had that on tap and haven't had one in a while. say what want about IPA's losing their zing after getting a little old, Wow before even having a sip while tilting the glass got a big hop hit. It is a lo...

Re: The No Post Post

Anyone still here and making beer? I scored a big pile of oak smoked wheat and some Polich Lubelski hops, so I just brewed a Grätzer / Grodziskie because I love that stuff. I did it 65% Oak Smoked Wheat and 35% Pilsner. Oh and I have everything I need to brew a Pliney the Elder clone, so that's up ...

Re: Steam Juiced Fruit Flavors for brewing

Yes, you can. The fruit in syrup will add more sugars though as well, so they will increase your ABV more than just your juice would. You would have to add some sugar or dextrose (say maybe 8oz) to get something more similar.

Re: Honey Cider

I have made a couple of malted hard ciders using 2 row and trader joes mulling spiced cider, and a tiny bit of hops (like 7AAU). Those came out great, I would do it again.

: now has urge to go to Trader Joes :

Yeah, I came here directly from the Mr. Beer forum. I never joined the "Mr. Beer Fans" one.

Re: What-up?

When not working, I've mostly been swimming, running, and riding bikes in between brewing stuff. Outdoor swimming season is coming to an end though, so there will be a break until Nordic skiing season. (I don't really like swimming in indoor pools all that much).

Re: What are you drinking?

I brewed the Pliney clone twice, the second time I brewed it with more volume, so it came out 7%, and it was still awesome, if perhaps not as authentic. So, you could probably brew a bigger batch and have a wee bit more beer at a time.

Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?

I brewed and also bottled a Patersbier since last time I was on here. I think I am going to brew a Tripel Karmeliet type of beer next.

Yeah, I love that recipe lol.

I bottled my Sahti like thing, FWIW. I may have over-done the Juniper a bit. We shall see as it ages.

Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?

I bought some Sahti malt from MoreBeer, mixed that with a bit crystal rye malt and brewed a beer with that, and a smidgeon of Centennial and Hallertau hops and some crushed up juniper berries (I could not get any Fronds that I could be sure to be chemical free). I also don't have any Finnish bakers ...

Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?

It is going to come with a bunch of leaf hops. If I remember correctly, they are mash hops, if so throw them in your basket with the grains so you can get them outa there after the mash. There are a shit ton of pellet hops that go into the boil, so you may want to use a hop spider for some of them. ...

I bottled that, and brewed a Pale Ale with Centennial & Citra.
