Local Two Beers brewing sells out to a French conglomerate.... http://www.seattletimes.com/business/sale-of-seattle-cider-two-beers-to-french-farm-co-op-is-a-bit-of-a-different-deal/ “If I am to lose a local tap handle it isn’t because of a Budweiser product, it’s another local brewery that’s just s...

Re: Woo-hoo! Refilled my two 5# CO2 tanks!

I do have a commercial place nearby (20 miles) that does fill them as well, but it's not really cheaper than a swap because they are geared for commercial fills and do it as a courtesy. So when it's time to change, it's a matter of where I plan to be that determines where I go. I get my tanks refil...

Re: Skagit Valley Malting

Yes, I've brewed with the Copeland & Alba malts; stocked at my LHBS. They are good people at Skagit Valley malts, & they are passionate about their business. I posted this back in March: [quote="Rebel_B"]My local Homebrew club had an interesting guest speaker at a meet this evening...

Re: Dads, what are you doing for Father's Day?

I met my son in law & his grandfather at a tavern to drink some beers, watch a ball game, & have lunch. Sampled a 21st Amendment Toaster Pastry IRA & a nitro Hopworks IPA. Will probably go on a leisurely bike ride in a bit.

Re: Keg Cleaning

I rinse an empty keg out with warm water, use a Mr Clean sponge to make sure there is no 'schmootz' inside. I will remove the posts & dip tube, immerse the components in a bucket of warm water & one step cleanser, then run a brush through the dip tube. Inspect everything, re-assemble, then p...

Re: Gas died again, and I have a new dilemma

With the tank valve, I've got my doubts. It may be as simple as unscrewing everything, wrapping the snot out of it with Teflon tape, and screwing it all back in securely. My gas supplier said I should never use Teflon tape on the gas side, only the liquid. He said it can actually introduce leaks, a...

Re: Double Crushing Your Grains For Greater Efficiency

Never have double crushed; if I have wheat or rye in the grain bill, I will adjust my rollers on my barley crusher a wee bit closer together so that whole pieces don't fall through.
