my lhbs: almost never has a clearance sale... tries to sell expired liquid yeast at what they consider a 'markdown', $3.50 instead of $7. their grain selection is woefully inadequate (ie no coffee malt)... but it's all there is for miles and miles. the guys are nice enough but it seems like they cat...

left hand + right hand + soap + water -> dishwasher. think of it... with a dishwasher you have to rinse the plates unless you don't mind dried food residue baking on your so called clean dishes. that's half of washing them right there. then unless you eat enough in one sitting to fill the dishwasher...

sea monkeys aka brine shrimp... lol... in grade school had to raise a bunch of them in a margarine tub and feed them brewers yeast. well I must have over fed mine because they got about a half inch big and all died from being fatties I guess. lol. I like raising yeast better. sometimes for gits and ...

if I could afford to I would be brewing every other day and trying out new styles..even if I just gave them away. something about yeast happily burping away while they munch that makes life suck a little less for me. then theres the occasion of a yeast hurricane too which makes me feel something app...

cant you put fermenter on a heating pad.. plug the heating pad into a Johnson control thingy...set it for desired ambient temp.. insert or tape sensor to fermenter? any time fermenter temp drops heating pad will come on and warm it? you could put fermenter in a water bath with an aquarium heater. ho...

mashani.. nope .. just harvested wlp400. i was very surprised that it worked as well as it did in a wit fermenting at around 61-62f. guess i'm the 'yeast whisperer' or something because they just wouldnt stop. manually agitating kept knocking it back..only to grow again. it finally simmered down and...

began manually agitating the starter after about 6.5 hrs on the stir plate... after it blew out. it is now about 7 hours after that and wife reports the thing keeps almost making it to the top again when she goes to agitate it for me (every 30 mins). agitating knocks it back down... lather ..rinse.....

all I could afford at the time... and it was discounted. I shut off the stir plate.. soaked paper towel with star san, wiped up the outside of the flask and the stir plate... removed the stir plate. replaced the foil on the flask with clean/sanitized foil.. and will just manually agitate every hour ...
