Re: To move or not to move... a brewers dilema ...
put them in your trunk.. move them yourself.. unless youre moving cross country. I got a large sterilite container that I use as a fermentation chiller box. I shoved all my brewing stuff into it, taped the hell out of it and had movers move it. or rent a small uhaul truck for a day at about 20 bux. ...

wheat beers... and conditioning. 2 ?s
1. why do I always perceive wheat beers as having a 'furry' or thick mouth feel? no matter how little wheat is used in the beer, if it is in there I almost always can tell by the mouth feel. not that I mind, but is it just me? 2. conditioning: I know flavors meld and mellow ... and come together wit...

Re: Lame *$# fermentation with S-05
I used 05 in a blue moon-ish recipe... and even at a low 60f it still managed to produce about an inch of krausen at high krausen. I sampled it at bottling and it was incredibly 'clean' making the orange peel really pronounced. it should age nicely as it conditions. that is one of the things I find ...

Re: How to Lighten up a Blonde
ive done what mashani recommended in the last post too... it works great. make the bulk of the extract a late addition... but if you really want to lighten up a blonde, tell her a good joke or maybe try flowers.

Re: Planning my first non-beer fermentation...Apfelwein
ive used the 1118 yeast... its a monster. lalvin makes good yeast. the nutrient is a good idea too.. I often boil up some bread yeast , toss in raisins .. sometimes grape nuts cereal and a centrum vitamin instead because I am weird that way. helps when making hobo wine using only juices because ther...

Re: Waste is good
making beer is a better hobby than sitting in the fields watching the sheepies munch grass, or whacking their dung about with a stick. at least when yer done making beer ye can drink it! if I actually sit down and start adding up all I have spent on equipment and supplies, and electricity I would ha...

Re: imperial stout recipe idea.. feedback?
I didn't want too much chocolate (bitter or other).. I figure between the roasted barley and the victory, if I lightly toast it in the oven I might get a roasted coffee kind of vibe going. the crystal for a hint of sweetness... the black for the coloring... acidulated malt just a pinch to balance ph...

Re: imperial stout recipe idea.. feedback?

I was looking to just get my feet wet so to speak with the whole biab and mashing... and keep the first few batches small. that way if I totally screw things up there isn't that much lost. ...
