Re: Yuengling ousts Boston Beer as top U.S. craft brewery

Having seen both I think BBC is physically bigger both in terms of equipment/plant space and employees. Yuenling is a small plant carved into the mountain/hillside here in Pottsville, PA. A good portion of the facility is in the caves. It has been in the same family since inception. They may have pr...

John,
A 75% reduction is fantastic!! Hope all continues to go well. Is it thawed out enough up there for packages yet? How did your Wife and Son make out while you were gone. Have a great day.

Welcome. RDWHAHB (Relax Don't Worry Have A Homebrew) oh wait you tried that  Take your time as all have said above, watch your sanitization and while you are waiting for those first brews to be ready get a book and start your quest into this hobby/obsession. You will make great beer.

Re: Here we go Brewbirds!

hang in there BB :freeze: It does get better and sooner for you down there in Virginia then it does here in NE PA. And it could always be worse, we could be up with John (FIT) in Norf Dakota where it has been in the minus degrees since Nov. I think he was going ice fishing in Oct........way to cold.

Re: Such a deal

John,
Do you think a grinder would work if using the coarse plate? Sometimes I pick-up my order (pre-crushed) and then run into a brewing delay of a few days or even a week. I keep the grain sealed in the bucket but know that the freshness is being impacted.

Re: How we do Lent in NOLA

BB, not too many, the trawlers take them all. You might get some blues in the surf early on and then some croakers in the summer, but the east coast fisheries have been hurting. Crabbing is always good though. It is surprising from Jersey down to Hatteras the lack of good local fish markets.

Re: Cha-cha-changes! i.e. The Next Chapter

That's great news. Good luck to you and your wife. My beer and wine making have been getting bigger and better. Planted more grapes last year and am thinking about my own hops, but still trying to find out if they are toxic to horses like they are to dogs. May good fortune come your way and the prid...
