Re: Do you have a "go to"

My go to is a local beer, sort of, that has some regional attention. being from Philadelphia, I love a Yuengling when I'm out at the bar. It's got enough flavor that it tastes good, everyone in Philadelphia carries it(if you ask for a lager, you get a Yuengling. Beer purists can debate the accuraten...

Trading Post

Call me crazy, but I would love to try some of the other borg member's beer. And I have a couple recipes coming up soon. I was hoping to use this thread as a trading post of sorts, post what you have that you would like to trade, and see if people can work deals out. It would be nice to get some hon...

Label Question

Does anyone have a website that they use for label generation? Just curious, I have some new beers that will be ready about Halloween, and I would love to be able to put them in bottle with Halloween labels on them. It would give it a nice touch.

Re: Under the Lid Yeast Packets

foothiller, that's what I'm planning to do. I want to get a fairly basic I think pale ale, and brew and split in to 2 lbks. One will get the downunda, the other s-04 and once it's bottled, I can test and see what the results are. Once I brew it, maybe I can send a couple samples out and get some oth...

Re: Using Bleach As A Sanitizer

I use bleach to kill everything in a keg after it has been infected. If I get an infected batch, first I clean with scentless dish soap, then dry, then bleach it, let it sit with the bleach for half an hour. Then rinse thoroughly with cold water. Finally, sanitize as normal on brew day. Maybe it isn...

Re: what in the....

A pic would be easiest to figure out if it is infected. With the batch I just brewed, I had a small krausen for 2 days then it dropped, then 5 days later I had a thick normal krausen. No idea why it happened this way, but you just have to trust that the yeast know what they are doing. As long as you...

Beer Books

i just finished reading a book called craft brew revolution, its a book of columns written by a lawyer in State College, PA in the beginning of the beer renaissance. Its a great read, especially since he writes about a lot of breweries that are "startups" at the time that we know as craft ...

Re: Mulling Spices

Its helpful to know where they are though. If I was looking I probably would have been in the spice aisle scratching my head before I figured out that I was in the wrong place. Now I won't have to look silly while looking for them.

Re: Sanitation for long dormant LBK

I'm going to soak my lbk in oxiclean while we brew my buddies beer first. He just got his first Mr. Beer kit, and since I brew almost exclusively with Mr. Beer, I'm giving him a hand with his first batch. Hopefully we can make something good for him, and get my keg clean enough that no nasties will ...

Re: philmin9's All America Gold

Still haven't decided about dry hopping, but I tasted a sip today, it still has time in the lbk, but it tasted fantastic.
