OK so in a nutshell there is no classifcation? Lol......I am where I started
I won't be entering it in any contest but it's a 'house' recipe that I accidentally came up with and like it. So I thought the least I could do was call it by the 'right' name. Oh well

Recipe Style/Classification?
OK I'm embarrassed to admit it but I have a recipe I routinely brew but am not sure of its classification. Hopefully I can get some help here. Here are the base ingredients: 2 row crystal 10 Saaz hops Yeast - sometimes the T-58, sometimes mangrove jacks belgian yeast. I want to say it's based as a b...

Re: Reusing Yeast In New Batch
1/3 Huh. That helps a lot as that was my next question lol.
I have a roughshod way of trying to measure out about 35ML which is the size of the whitelab vials.

Re: Reusing Yeast In New Batch
^If that's the case then I will probably just wash the yeast and not pitch all of it.
If I wash the yeast and pitch the same day, do you recommend a starter?

Re: Belgian With Ginger
I was thinking much less than that. I'll probably do 2.5g. I read someone did .16oz for a 6 gallon batch and it was just subtle enough. So I'm starting there. Don't want my wife waiting 8 months for her beer lol.....

Re: Reusing Yeast In New Batch
I figured a few of those things Mashani but not all.
When you say go bigger - what are your thoughts? This batch has an OG of 1.062. 10 point increase? 20?

Re: Reusing Yeast In New Batch
Thanks for the reply. I'm familiar with the term 'yeast cake'. I was wondering more if there is a term for doing what we are talking about? In any event I like the idea of washing the yeast and then using that. If I don't start a new batch on this yeast I was going to wash it anyways. Thanks for the...

Reusing Yeast In New Batch
Hey - I'm sure there is a term for this but I don't know what it is. If I did, I would have searched for it and probably found my answer. So I will post the question and see if I can get some help. I will soon be cold crashing my fermenter in preparation for bottling. I will want to drop a new batch...

Belgian With Ginger
Hello - I will be brewing a 5 gallon batch and want to play around with some ginger. I plan to do a split batch to test. I plan on doing a simple Belgian ale. In one fermenter I will do as normal for the Belgian. But in the other I'd like to add some ginger and see how that plays out. To keep the gi...

Orange Bitter Peel - SMASH
I'm doing a SMASH this weekend. I was digging through my 'stuff' and found some orange bitter peel and thought 'hmmm.......'. I'm thinking about dropping a little in to give a small hint of orange. I've never used it before so not too sure about results. Recipes I've seen tend to use it in conjuncti...

Re: Bitter Orange Peal / IPA
I meant to buy sweet but purchased bitter by mistake. I think I will keep it easy and throw in an ounce at the last 10 or so.

Bitter Orange Peal / IPA
Alright I recently got my hands on a Cigar City limited edition IPA. It was brewed with Orange Peel. Pretty darn tasty. The orange is very very subtle. I have some bitter orange peel and am thinking of throwing it into an upcoming batch/recipe. Has anyone had any experience working with bitter orang...
