Still doesn't seem to work.

Re: Labeling bottles

I'm also using http://www.beerlabelizer.com/ to make my labels. SWMBO just started a new job with Brother specifically to work on their new Scan N Cut product. It's a image scanner with a built in cutting head. It's perfect for my needs. I print 9 images on one sheet of normal paper on our color las...

Re: Okay, how do you get the "spoiler" tab to work?

I'm having problems getting the spoiler tags to work also, and I'm usually pretty good at these things.

Re: Mr Beer forum is really dead

I joined over there to get some guidance on my witbier. I came across a post that said the party had moved over to beer borg dot com.

The whole time, I'm trying to wrap my head around how weird the forum worked. Now I know.

Re: What are you drinking?

2012 Fegley's Brew Works Rude Elf's Reserve. It's really mellowed out over the year and I drank it all to easily. So good. I have 1 bottle left from 2011, and 2 more 2012's. In a few weeks, I'm going to do a 3 year sampling. This stuff tastes like Christmas in a bottle. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/...

Re: El Diablo Blanco IPA

I just took a sample taste a week after adding the ounce of Citra hops. It has a much more forward citrus feel to it now and less sweet. I think I'm going to bottle it soon.

Re: First Cider

I want to make an applewine of around 15% abv that still has some residual sweetness. I figure I will need to start around 1.120og and I'd let it go to around 1.004fg. I plan on using EC-1118 yeast for this.

How do I figure out how much sugar I'll need to hit that og?
What else???

Re: El Diablo Blanco IPA

Maybe I'm missing something so correct me if I'm wrong. But one of your earlier pics shows a gravity of 1.066 or so...and now, 2 weeks later it's 1.072ish. How did the gravity go up in two weeks time??? LOL, good catch. Who knows. I've been really bad about keeping brew notes and just reviewed the ...

Re: El Diablo Blanco IPA

Over the weekend, I racked this to my secondary/bottling container. Here's what it looks like. It's a nice tasting beer, however it needs more citrus and hop aroma. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/11/09/umasupad.jpg So I added the whole ounce of Citra hops I had. The good news is it calculated out at 8...

Re: First Cider

Well I decided to go ahead and hit the cider today. As a first 'experiment' I just left the cider in a primary jug for 4 weeks and just poured it carefully into a couple of growlers leaving the dregs behind and stuck plastic wrap over them and in the fridge. I'm gonna drink a good bit of this today...

Re: Picked up 6 craft beers; what should I expect?

My co-worker lives 10 minutes away from Victory's brewpub (we both work from home). He often goes there for 3 hour "lunches". I only wish such a place could exist 10 minutes away from where I live.

Re: Can't boil water

In my opinion you can get away with a gallon. You might want to consider getting an outdoor burner Other option is to use two pots and split the difference. But remember, for best hop utilization you will want to keep your wort at around 1.030-1.040 during the full boil if you will not be boiling t...

Re: Can't boil water

You need a SMALLER POT.   Sorry couldn't resist that dig at certain persons on the Borg (they know who they are). Seriously though if you are using HMEs why not try a hop stand instead of a short boil? Hold your wort temp under 140F for twenty or thirty minutes with your hops in it....

My heat elements are set too far apart (or my pot isn't wide enough). Thanks anyway.
