Gentleman, I have one MrB Porter and almost a full bag of Caramel40 grains, if i steep the bag of grains for 20 min, add the MrB can....what will the caramel do to a porter? lighten it? is this a terrible idea?

after reading the borg.... I started boiling 1cup of water w/ 2/3 cups of sugar (if memory serves me) to be a much better way to carbonate equally when bottling. UNFORTUNATELY, I learned that if you let the water boil out when drinking on bottling night, you must wash the sugar residue from the pan....

Uhh Ohh, i haven't made a batch of beer in a year. I tried the BiB 1 gallon kit and made bottle bombs, my wife is a bit weary now. That being said, is my yeast more than likely done for - stored in a drawer in the basement, roughtly 68 deg f all year round.

Its kind of amusing how just a month ago we had this blog about black IPA's. I have been a huge fan of Brewdogs TV series. I found a few bottles of the Libertine Black Ale on saturday night. It is an amazing Stout/IPA hybrid....i had two at the bar, and took the other two they had home for safe keep...

i agree with the post above, tho i dont have any experience with BD, all of the MrB kits i've done (both straight and simple and their recipes) have always tasted better the longer they sit in the basement conditioning. Especially the Oktoberfest (which i used often for i love amber beer) - they alw...

If you can put your pot in the oven, then when you have the grain/water at mash temps in the pot then put it in there, heat the oven to whatever your lowest possible temperature is Thanks for the tip, i would have never thought of that. i am getting a lingering apple flavor when i do anything mixed with the octoberfest.....after some research, do you think that if i used a different yeast other than what's provided it would make a difference?
