Re: Question about Irish Moss
I haven't used whirlfloc. Irish moss is what the local shop carries in stock.

Re: Question about Irish Moss
It just depends, mainly on how thirsty I am. I have refrigerated some for a week or more. They don't usually last longer than that.

Re: Question about Irish Moss
Thanks guys. Sounds like I've been doing it right. I still get chill haze in mine. Not as bad as it was but I'm still getting it.

Question about Irish Moss
Not sure this is the right spot for this question as it's probably not that advanced but here goes...I guess I just assumed that Irish Moss was added to the boil in its dry form. Being a beginner I have limited experience and have added it in my last few brews in that way. Just measure out the teasp...

Re: Couple questions about my first 5 gallon batch Blonde Al
Thanks for the replies. Seems like the best course would just be to stop worrying about it and let it finish. I might try doing the cold crash in an ice chest idea as I think I have an ice chest big enough for the pale and frozen water bottles. If I wasn't very clear I've only bottled from a primary...

Couple questions about my first 5 gallon batch Blonde Ale
Up to this point I've only done 2 gallon batches in my Mr Beer LBK's and have gotten along fine with those. I haven't done any secondary fermentation with those. Basically just primary for three weeks give a couple days + or _ and cold crash in the fridge for 2 to 3 days before bottling. They've all...

Re: Question about adding sugar or dextrose
It was from the recipe on the mr beer site. It called for a half pound of DME and 1 packet of booster and the standard Aztec Mexican Cerveza refill HME. I don't have the booster on hand. What I had on hand is a pound of pale light DME and a pound of dextrose. So I was thinking of adding it in place ...

Re: Question about adding sugar or dextrose
Thank you. I'm not doing a hop boil on this one. I do have a hydrometer but all my brews so far have just gone three weeks in the LBK regardless. Well, three weeks that includes two to three days cold crash. The recipe is pretty close to one that's on the Mr Beer list. I can't recall the name of it ...

Question about adding sugar or dextrose
Just for starters I'm fairly new to brewing with only experience using the Mr Beer LBK and refills. I have one Mexican Aztec Cerveza in the fridge cold crashing now and I have another Mexian Cerveza standard refill that I need to brew. When I brew it I want to add a .5lb of Light DME and some dextro...

Re: An informational message for the 1st timers
Just wanted to say hello. I'm pretty new to beer brewing. I got started last winter with a couple of Mr Beer kits. I managed to get two of the standard refills brewed and I thought they turned out pretty good. A little low on ABV but decent none the less. So I took the summer off from brewing due to...
