Re: The No Post Post
In the footsteps of THE HAT, my long lost younger brother from Denver and older brother from a coupla miles away paid a visit last evening for 6-7 hours shooting the shirt about our younger days and all...drinking some wine and definitely some homebrews, first pours and others. My long lost bro is ...

Re: Cooking with Beer.
Beer butt chicken is the best, I use a ceramic chicken sitter and add lemon, onion, garlic, and some fresh herbs as well. In my opinion good beer is best, if it tastes good when you drink it it's only going to taste better when you cook with and reduce it. After making your beer butt chicken strain ...

Re: Cooking with Beer.
I always cook with beer. Sometimes I even add it to the food I'm cooking. Seriously, though, as mentioned, chili, stew, beer can chicken, and many other dishes can be enhanced with beer. You just have to choose the proper beer to add. For chili and stew, I prefer a darker beer, like a porter or a s...

Re: Fermentation length.
Sorry should have posted that, OG was 1.044. I may rack it to free up the larger fermenter to get more beer in the pipeline.

Re: wort burn
After my first boil I protect the stove top with a lot of heavy duty foil, (gas stove). Fortunately everything cleaned up with a good soak in PBW. I soaked a washcloth in a fairly strong solution and pressed it tightly on the stain and let it sit for several hours, dripping more solution on it every...

Re: Fermentation length.
I did the Northern Czech Pils and it looks like primary fermentation is done after 7 days, recipe calls for secondary for 4 weeks at 35-40 degrees but to slowly bring the temps down. I thought I'd have time to get my freezer rigged to do that but it appears as if I need to rack it and move it to sec...

Re: I have a new obsession-Beer glasses
I've been collecting the regular 16oz glasses for a few years, bought 9 in Memphis last year. Elvis, Beale St., Central BBQ, Sun Records, Gibson, etc. Great city and my favorite glasses for sure.

Re: DIY stir plate
Two weeks in and I own 4 carboys, a refractometer, I made a wort chiller, bought 2 kegs and co2, have two beers fermenting, and am wondering whether to get another Bubbler from Northern or a bucket for my next brew and where I'm going to put it when it's done. Who knew a drunk would enjoy cooking bo...

Re: DIY stir plate
Then your not actually stirring the wort. There needs to be a magnet bar in the flask spinning the wort infusing oxygen into it. Spinning the flask and wort like that is not different than just letting it sit on the counter, which works albeit a lot slower. Gotcha, I'll get a stir plate at some poi...

Re: DIY stir plate
This seems to be working. 45 RPM I made the mistake of picking it up and giving it a swirl earlier. It blew the the foam top off and spilled beer in my man cave.
