Re: Stella! Stop that!

Maybe "Little Licker RyePA." My Front Porch Ale had a skunk on it and people balked. :laugh

Re: Stella! Stop that!

I'm not sure my friends would go for "Dog Slobber Rye" but I think they'll go for "Stella's Imposition RyePA." Her pic will be on the label.

Re: Thinking about a Grainfather (Updated FYI)

Pulled the trigger. I'll keep you posted. All I have on that circuit is my keezer with a Johnson controller, and my Williamswarn, which actually pulls very little.

Re: Thinking about a Grainfather (Updated FYI)

Thanks for the caveats. I'm thinking it might just be better to upgrade the probable circuit to 20A and be done with it. I really, REALLY don't want a fire.

Thinking about a Grainfather (Updated FYI)

I have a Zymatic, and it's great for 2.5-gal batches. It lets me focus on other things (school) while it takes my recipes through the brew cycle. With brew size being limited, most times I brew twice to get 5 gallons total. Hops additions are also limited, and efficiency can be low in some programs....

Re: Anybody growing hops?

The 2nd story deck is exactly what I use. I ran a twine through an eye hook at the top of each post. Then I let it out every couple weeks so the top of the bine was always climbing up. I read that on a "growing hops in a pot" article somewhere. Seemed to have worked. Thanks, I looked that...

Stella! Stop that!

Dogs were outside playing in the snow. Dog door is accessible in case they get too cold. I'm getting ready to brew a Mosaic Rye, so I crushed the grains into a bucket. Went downstairs to the basement to retrieve my hops from the keezer. When I came up, Stella was testing the grain bill for me. I thi...

Anybody growing hops?

I just ordered some cascade hops rhizomes. My back deck is about 6-7 feet off the ground, and I figure I can run trellis lines up beyond that, following the deck rail.

Anybody got any general advice? (i know, I know, I should be careful issuing such an open invitation!)

Re: Who's brave enough to brew in this weekend's cold?

I am, but cheating inside. I'm trying to decide on a pilsner or a IIPA. The holiday sales have me loaded up on ingredients. I haven't made a pils in awhile. Add some nice Motueka hops for good measure...

Re: Bummed out

I played acoustic guitar as a teenager, but what I really wanted to play was banjo. Couldn't afford one, though. Now I have a ukulele that I horse around with. I know enough chords to figure out the old songs my dad used to sing in the car, but I'd love to take some lessons and stop playing like a h...
