ah, yes, left that part out.BigPapaG wrote: Then you could certainly bottle, carbonate for a couple of weeks at room temp and THEN lager the beer at cold temps for a few more weeks.
So in the end if a lot movement is avoided, there isn't any real difference in either method?

lager: bottle or secondary
I have three lagers fermenting in a minifridge at the moment - a helles with 34/70, a dortmunder with 34/70, and a baltic porter with s23. They are extracts. Looking for opinions on the lagering phase. currently the brews are held at 55F and are 8 days into fermentation. I will do a D-rest somewhere...

Re: The end of craft beer
what i find interesting is to consider what bud and miller will do to fight back... or more importantly, what can they do? as noted, if they buy up and proceed to envelope a craft brewery, changing it to their model and potentially ruining it.. they have not acquired that portion of the market they ...

Re: Guess what dummy just figured out podcasts!!!
just remember, not all podcasts are created equal. the ones where it is just two guys talking.. I can't handle them very long. Really well done ones, have production and music, sound effects.. etc.. to be fair, I have not listened to any BeerSmith ones, but I did add them to my iphone podcast app...

Hope you got temp control. Makes all the difference. for fermenting? yes! got a nice 4.4 cu. ft. mini fridge on CL for $50 and assembled a temp controller from amazon to run it. I just bottled two MB lagers last weekend that ran at 55F for 19 days with a d-rest and cold crash. Hoping they turn out ...

Re: OMG Mr. Beer is freaking hilarious
That's what I was getting at above when I mentioned providing intermediate/more advanced options at a better price point. They could offer small batch versions of something like the Brewers Best kits, or a 2 gallon version of something similar to the Brooklyn kits you can get at whole foods (except...

Re: Show me Your Labels
I scanned through the thread, IB - you're freaking good at this... but regarding label stock... the waterproof labels, do they come off the bottles easily? http://laserinkjetlabels.com/eshop/10Expand.asp?ProductCode=4030-PG12 Seems a nice solution, if they clean up easy. (only have ink jet printer)

if/when you decide to move to partial mash or All Grain. We look forward to hearing more from you here on the Borg! :borg: I think anyone who wants to continue brewing beyond the first 6 months to a year likely moves into partial mash and All Grain... right? I plan to. I am sure it is the natural e...

Re: OMG Mr. Beer is freaking hilarious
How much do you have to spend to have a shot at the "free" stuff? That isn't free  Maybe i'm looking at this too black and white... I see this as a program to offer incentivizing, at no additional cost to the purchaser. They clearly cannot just give stuff away to people who do not...

Re: OMG Mr. Beer is freaking hilarious
I am not trying to defend the quality of the program - it is rather convoluted... Thanks RickBeer for running out that math... but what you left off was the way to get all the free points... Now it won't get you there *that* much faster, but you can earn points for promoting stuff on facebook/twitte...
