Just saw this thread and it looks like Sparrow is on to something.
I love the variety and creativity of beer labels. I'm also a graphic designer and had fun making my own (viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4741&start=1). Happy to help anyone else. Cheers!

Re: Extra hazy hefe
Dawg, that's a clever way to do it. The less beer I have to draw out, the better.
Mashani, I use saved glass bottles and a capper but I guess I could just recap them. I have opened two more bottles since this post and they were the same. Already looking forward to my next brew.

Re: Extra hazy hefe
Thanks guys. I appreciate your feedback. Yeah, it did taste over carbed. It was my first time using a hydrometer and I was hesitant to check it too often because each time it's a large sample out of my 2 gallon batch. Guess that's a lesson learned. The beer didn't taste bad, it just had more of a bi...

Re: Extra hazy hefe
It's been 3 weeks since bottling the Dante's Delight WeissBier and the first pour... well, you can see... had a huge head. This pict was snapped about 15 seconds after pouring and it lasted for over a minute before going down. The same thing happened after I opened a bottle last week. Is this normal...

napsternova, let us know how the Hellfire Red Ale comes out. I'll be trying a bottle of Dante's Delight Weizenbier this week.

Re: Extra hazy hefe
Thanks, Mashani. I knew hefe's were normally hazy, but thought it was only due to unfiltering. Didn't realize the type of yeast contributed to that.
Maybe I should give toothpicks out with each bottle...

Extra hazy hefe
Two weeks ago today, I bottled my first batch of weiss bier (2 gal BrewDemon conical). It still has a lot of debris floating around – tiny dark specks – more than the last batch of pale ale. Is that normal for this style of beer? Thinking I'll put one bottle in the fridge for a couple of days and se...

Re: First Batch Success!
Looks really good. I've heard a couple of people on here praise that pilsner. I'll have to put in on my list. Great job! Thanks for sharing.

Re: Opinion on labeling...
Lots of great tips and it's cool to see everyone's different labeling ideas. I tab the caps on all bottles with name, abv and date bottled. I made these labels just for the ones to be given away. Since I live in the U.S. southwest, I went with a western theme...

That's great, Louie! I do have a Google account and will be looking up some templates.
Dawg, the Labely site sounds interesting. Wonder how much of a pain getting the labels off would be.

Re: Opinion on labeling...
Great info. Thanks all! I picked up some dots and am using a different color for each batch so I can tell at a glance which is which. Since my kits only yield 22 12-oz. bottles, I am storing them together. Plus, it only takes a few minutes to mark them. Also, I created an Excel spreadsheet to take n...

Opinion on labeling...
Do you guys normally put the brew date or bottle date on your bottles, or does it matter?
Figure the best way is to put little round sticky dots on the caps with beer name and date.
Any other tips for labeling?

Re: Second Batch Brewing
Right Louie, it's the Brew Demon 2 gal conical. I just wrote LBK because it was quicker. The bubbler did come with a seal for the lid. Maybe it will show more activity with the next refill kit. The yeasties are definitely chowing down by the look of the krausen (thanks for the word, Whamo).

Re: Second Batch Brewing
The packet only says Dry Brewers Yeast, but I just found on their website that the type of yeast is safbrew S33 from Fermentis, described as a "well rounded yeast that flocculates well at the end of fermentation". And I admit I had to look up flocculate.
