Re: I guess this just confirms human nature

Traveled yesterday a bit for my daughters cross country regional meet. Found a burger joint that just happened to have a nice Dunkelweizen on tap. Both exotic and classic at the same time although not what the cool kids drink.

Re: I need some inspiration!!

Perfect time of year to be drinking a nice brown ale, but probably a little late to brew one. Already time for brewing what you want to drink during Christmas dinner.

Re: I don't want to sound snobbish but...

A lot of craft beers these days are really ho-hum. We had a couple of guys here locally launch a production brewery with a small taproom. Their beers are really middle of the road stuff (although the Helles they tapped this weekend is top shelf). They sunk a ton of money into a place that currently ...

Re: Curious about feelings on competition results

Havent done a comp in a long time, but I always considered my numbers to me +/- 5 pts. Everything is relative. If the previous beer sucked, yours will be really good... etc. A 5K can be a daunting race sometimes, but after I ran a 1/2 marathon a 5K seems like a warmup. If you've entered the same rec...

Re: 50 beers from 50 States (The Clone Wars)

I've never even heard of the one from West Virginia. A little Googling shows their grand opening is set for August 5th of this year. Who selected these brews?

Re: Craft brew lovers fighting back

I just feel beer is slowly moving to the local level. National and regional brands are going to feel the sting over time. There is a wider profit margin at the local level minus all the marketing and distribution that the larger brands cannot compete with... let alone the level of freshness... quali...

:D

Now I do hope AB kicks in to help the non-profit that would have received the proceeds.

Re: Is It Last Call For Craft Beer?

I think Jim Koch is just seeing the short end of the stick these days. I like several of the offerings from the Boston Beer Co, but they also happen to be some of the pricier beers out there right now. There are simply better beers available at better prices. Throw in the sprouting of local beers as...

Love the thread, but stay away from those nastier, industrialized oils. Your health will thank you.

Re: 300, Now Surgery

Congrats on the game.

I threw a 299 once. Right handed bowler and left a solid 9 pin in the 10th on a perfect pocket hit. The house bought me beer for the night for my sorrows.

Re: Where is everyone and why are you so quiet?

Daily lurker. Just not much happening brewing-wise on my end. My other hobby (running) has taken up most of my free time... especially with the very mild almost nonexistent winter we've been having.

Re: Danstar Nottingham

No proof, but I firmly believe off flavors rise with activity level as well as temp. A cool, calm fermentation has always produced the best beers for me... especially high gravity brews. Don't let it get too active no matter the temp, Kenny. I hate blanket concepts like this. It depends on what you...
