Re: Isolation brewing

I brewed 15 gallons of beer this weekend! I’m not even sure the last time I brewed; longer than a year ago.
Also made 12 gallons of wine. First time for wine!

Unidentified yeast

Have a friend doing his first brew today. It's a Pliny kit. He started brewing and noticed that the kit contained no yeast. He called me to see if I had any. I have a few batches going, but nothing that he could pitch on the cake of. Then I remembered that I had this packet that I was eventually goi...

Re: Beer serving station

The spacer in the triple tap is actually a furniture foot from Home Depot. The original single tap mounted to a lactic piece that twisted & locked the tower into place. The triple tap had a much wider footprint. I didn't like the idea of permanently mounting it to the top in case I ever wanted t...

Beer serving station

Built this for our Halloween party last night. The pumpkin tap was a huge hit. Thought I would post a pic for those who don't have a significant other that lives on Pinterest. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/11/01/e6dbf3bf3312cd0186b816ff4e9b9527.jpg I also had three more beers in my old kegerator...

Bar Build

Thinking ahead to my bar build (which won't be anytime soon but...), everyone builds a bar that resembles a typical bar with bar rail, bar, lowed bar back (work area), and with taps in front, behind or beside where the "bartender" would be. My bar will be at the opposite end of a living ro...

Re: Grainfather Review

Jon, I had a few stray grains that plugged up the pump my first batch to just a trickle. I had to disassemble the valve and clean it during cooling. That being said, the pump does seem to drain slow. However I have never used another pump + CWC combo, so I don't have much reference. Sent from my iPh...

Re: Grainfather Review

Sweet that should shave at least 20-30 minutes of my brew day. It will be real easy with the digital thermometer too.

Re: Grainfather Review

I was worried that since the hot break hadn't fallen yet that would somehow mess up my hop utilization. If there is a consensus about throwing hops on top of hot break, I am all for anything to shorten by brew day.

Re: Coming Soon...my first AG Grainfather Brew Day!

I posted my review. If you want, you can add to it or start your own. Give it a read and maybe you can avoid some of the same mistakes that I made. Wish I would have collected more data, but I was multitasking (two batches and drinking). Hope all goes well, can't wait to hear about it. Sent from my ...

Grainfather review posted. Wish I would have captured more empirical data to share, but oh well. Some good reflections.

Grainfather Review

Finally got the chance to test out the Grainfather. My overall impression was very favorable, although I did find many shortcomings. Some of these were mere mistakes on my part and others were slight design flaws. I tried to identify all the things that I didn't like and will surely not list all the...
