Re: What are you brewing/bottling?
Over the weekend I made a 2 gal Brew Demon Wild Spirit IPA and a 1 gallon Brewers Best Pineapple Wheat. I was pretty excited to use my new wort chiller for the first time. I must say, why the heck did I wait so long to buy one? It cooled these small bathes down in minutes. NO MORE ICE BATHS FOR THIS...

Re: Gas died again, and I have a new dilemma
I feel your pain. I purchased a new regulator (which I found to be defective) and wasted a 5# bottle of CO2 this weekend. Some times I just want to scream !!
I just ordered a replacement from Amazon. The one nice thing about Amazon, it is super easy to return a defective product.

Re: I deserve a homebrew because....
I deserve a homebrew because after screwing up my keg rotation all of Feb and Mar, I finally have 3 full kegs that are carbed and ready to go for tonights hockey game!

Re: 2.5 # CO2 Bottle Bit The Dust
I went in to fill my 5# and my 2.5#. When the 2.5 crapped out I ended up buying another 5# bottle filled for $60. They charge $10 to fill a 2.5 and $13 so the 5# is definitely more economical to refill.ScrewyBrewer wrote: but for now its still on my brewing wishlist.

2.5 # CO2 Bottle Bit The Dust
I took in my small 2.5 #er back up bottle for a refill today. Something was cracked in the shut off valve. (no wonder it was empty) This is the second time I had an issue with a 2.5. Last year, my local supplier would not fill it b/c it was a cheap bottle from China that came with my kegerator. He s...

Re: 15 Gallon Weekend
Brewnewb, Perhaps a silly question, but does fermenting wine in buckets leave any odor or staining behind? I know that using plastic equipment for soda (especially root beer) can permanently "odorize" the plastic...just wondering if the same holds true for wine. After I bottled the wine t...

15 Gallon Weekend
I was a busy beaver this past weekend. This winter I had all 5 of my fermenting buckets full of wine. Finally, 3 were ready to bottle. That took up the better part of my off day on Friday. Sat AM I was at the LHBS and grabbed a couple beer kits and misc supplies. I did a brewers best 5 gal summer al...

Re: First Brew of 2016 (and an update!)
I think it's just as good as any of the fill in the blankers. Even a little more flavor in my opinion and at 1/2 the cost. I can't find a case of Miller Lite for under 17 - 18 bucks any more.

5 gallon cost
10.00 - DME
02.00 - Hops
03.00 - Yeast
00.25 - Sugar
00.10 - Whirfloc
15.35 - Total for ~2 cases of beer. + $2 per batch when we add berry extracts
A few of us "insiders" call it CAB but we tell everyone it's "Light Ale" hahaha

Too much skiing - not enough brewing
I'm ashamed to admit but so far in 2016 I've made one measley 2 gallon batch of Brew Demon Cider. We've been skiing just about every weekend since the new year began. I thought I'd post a few pics from last weeks trip out west. I did combine skiing and brewing as my son and I toured the Coors Brewer...

Re: Too Much Beer or Not Enough?
Depending on the number of parties and get togethers we have any given month That's my biggest challenge. I find it seasonal. In the summer, we end up with impromptu "cul de sac" get togethers and boom - the kegs are empty. In the winter, everyone hibernates and the kegs last for months. ...
