Re: What are you brewing/bottling?

My neighbor and I brewed a 5 gal batch of Brewers Best Irish Stout today. Early samples were quite tasty.

Re: CO2 Tanks - Swap or Refill?

The closest place to me will not refill. :( I had the same deal at my welding shop. They told me it was due to it being a Chinese manufactured bottle. I swaped it for a full one at Airgas without issue. Now I take my "Airgas" bottle to the local welding and have it refilled. Ironically, A...

Re: How much have you brewed in 2015?

Since July I've managed to brew 25 gal of beer and 18 gal of wine. I have to believe for the year, I'm at 70 or 80 gal of beer and pushing 40 gal of wine. I only do extract brews so it's pretty easy for me to whip up a 5 gal batch in a few hours each weekend. The wine kits are so easy - it takes mor...

Re: What are you brewing/bottling?

Wow - that stinks. I'm going to double check all mine from now on. Ironically, I just filled an LBK on Tues with a cheap wine batch and noticed my spigot was broke when I was sanitizing. Luckily, I have a few spares so no harm. I think its a good idea to have spare "parts" around. The few ...

Re: Opinion on labeling...

I do the same as mashani. I put a sticky on the box with the beer type and date. When I first started, I used to make nice lables with a logo and name. Then I found out what a PITA is was to wash / remove the fancy labels. On a side note, I have a few 2.5 gal kegs and mixed 2 up a while ago. After t...

Re: Fitness, Exercise, Etc.

Well, yesterday was my first day back in the gym in a good while. I've stopped in a few times in the summer but never got my true momentum back. I used to work out 4 days a week with a mix of cardio and free weights. When at my best, several years ago, I was 5-11 and about 195. I could bench press 3...

Re: Not another Hop growing Thread

I harvested my 2 cascade vines today. I yielded 47 ounces of fresh (wet) cascade hops. Over the next week, my neighbor and I are going to make a bunch of simple, easy drinking beers to set us up for football season. Here's a few pics. I filled a 5 gallon pail + a little bowl http://go2snowshoe.com/w...

Re: Not another Hop growing Thread

I have 2 cascade bines that are in their second year. I just wanted to see how / if they would grow. I can only run a twine about 12' up. They grew, fell over and grew up themselves again. I'm sure this is NOT the right way but my gosh, they are covered with cones. I actually harvested one a couple ...

Wow - scary stuff. Parental nightmare. Thank the BIG guy she's OK. That car looks bad.

I got one of those calls last year and thankfully our outcome was the same as yours.

Re: What are you brewing/bottling?

I kegged / bottled 5 gal Brewers Best Witbier and 5 gal of Mr Beer (yuck) CAL with and extra pound of light DME and 1 oz cascade hops. Lately, I've been kegging 2.5 gal in my mini kegs and bottling the rest in some old Straub returnable bottles. Mini Kegs http://go2snowshoe.com/wp-content/uploads/20...
