Re: Emeril Lagasse pressure pot

We have the Ninja Foodie pres cooker / air fryer. We use it at least once a week. Hard boiled eggs are a regular. We did a beef stew last Sunday. Beef melted in our mouth. Tasted just as good (maybe better) than sitting in a crock pot all day. I forget how long it cooked but I think start to finish ...

Re: Some Beer History from my area.

Hey, I remember Koch's from when I was at SUNY Fredonia in the late 70s/early 80s. In fact, this thread put me in mind of those days, when the local supermarket would take all the odd beers on Friday and make mixer/sixers that they'd sell on the cheap. They really catered to the college community b...

Re: Introducing Redneck Blush to the Borg

Digging up an oldie but goodie here since I've become a professional lurker here with nothing to add. In early April 2020 we were stuck at home bored beyond belief. I wandered over to the local Wally Mart to do this recipe but they did not have enough white grape juice on the shelves. I called an au...

Re: Hard Seltzer (kit from Northern Brewer)

That's good news. I hope it turns out well.

My wife needs a hobby. She's been home since March 13. You can only do so many school district zoom meetings each day.

Re: Isolation brewing

Not exactly "brewing" but I whipped up a batch of "modified" redneck blush this weekend. I've been sitting on this juice for a while and they were close to the use by date. https://scontent.fagc1-2.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/92137013_3074401762580544_7813997897564815360_n.jpg?_nc_cat...

Re: Fermenting Buckets - How Long Do You Keep'em?

Is that what's holding it up (steam hop availability)? No, it's a few design seals that were not up to par. They have been keeping us in the loop with VERY detailed updates on the process. I do not feel at risk here but after a year delay one does scratch their head. At the end of the day, I want a...

Re: Fermenting Buckets - How Long Do You Keep'em?

I kind of chuckled when I saw I started this thread 4+ years ago. Here's a PATHETIC / FRUSTRATING update. I have two of those 5 gal pails just sitting in a corner in my basement collecting dust. I have not made beer since the summer of 2018. All of my other brewing equipment is sealed up in some lar...

Re: Ebay Caps by the Thousand

As I lurk on the Borg - this is a really cool thread that reminded me of Labor Day weekend. I'm still waiting on my kickstarter BEERMKR system that is targeted for an Oct shipping date so I have ZERO brews in 2019. I was in our local beer dist over Labor Day that also has a homebrew section. I "...

Re: BEERMKR

This morning, we got a BEERMKR update in great detail. In summary, due to the complexity of the system, any small change resulted in several other changes that created more and more delays. They believe they are now at a point to begin production. They targeted spring of 2019, then delayed to summer...

Re: Lazy Man's Wine Storage / Bottling

Something you might want to consider is getting a couple of 5 gallon corny kegs and storing your wine in them. You could add just enough CO2 to prevent oxygenation and hook up and increase the CO2 when you want to fill a bottle. This would still make it pretty easy to keep in line with your Lazy Ma...

Re: Lazy Man's Wine Storage / Bottling

With Memorial Day this weekend, I won't be shocked if we finish off this batch. A 5 g batch yields about 27 750ml bottles. I tend to pour on the heavy side. I never understood wine etiquette and half full glasses. I must say, not having 27 bottles to wash, cork and store is appealing. I have a frien...

Lazy Man's Wine Storage / Bottling

I'm ashamed to admit this but here's what I've done for the past 2 weeks: I made a 5 gal batch of redneck blush on Feb 6 2019. I let it ferment for 3 months. Now for the LAZY part ..... Just about each day, I fill a wine bottle, add a stopper and stick it in the fridge to chill. Once that bottle is ...
