Re: What's that taste?
The 3 weeks is "to be sure it's done" if you don't have a hydrometer and/or are not pitching enough yeast, which are both common problems that new folks have. If you pitch enough yeast and ferment in the right temperature range then it really is probably done in 10-14 days, but an extra w...

Re: Boil the BD wort
Thanks that is good to know.mashani wrote:Yes, you can do exactly that. Also, if adding some hops for more flavor or aroma, then just throw them into the steep and boil for however much time you want for the results you intend, and then add the HMEs.
WOW! That is really freaking cool!

Re: 4 or 5 Gallons of Brew Demon NUT BROWN ALE
Thanks Mashani. I'll take your recommendations; I'd hate toss the BD cans without trying to make something. I-F Is the BD Nut Brown Ale any good for someone who likes German & Belgian wheat styles? It is English style but if you like the above you will probably like it. It is one of the better H...

Re: 4 or 5 Gallons of Brew Demon NUT BROWN ALE
Thanks John. I picked up "How To Brew" a couple months back when I first started brewing. The book overwhelmed me at first. Drinking beer is easy, making a good beer to drink takes effort. I'm absolutely exciting about this "Hobby" and can't wait to master the basics and go from ...

Re: Boil the BD wort
Makes sense. Thank you both replies.
So if I were brewing using grains and a HME could I:
1. Steep grains for 20 min at 160F
2. Bring to boil and remove from heat
3. Mix in HME
4. Cool

Re: What's that taste?
Thanks all for the feedback and welcoming encouragement! FRESH INGREDIENTS that's what my next recipe is going to be made from. I've started keeping all my hops and yeasts in the fridge - which they weren't. Plus I do think they were near expiration dates... It also seems to me buying bulk might be ...

What's that taste?
Hi sorry if this is a bit long, I want to make sure I get in all the details... I've made several batches of brews and experienced a very similar result with the end products: A sort of medicinal, bitter, maybe soapy like aftertaste in the conditioned bottled beer. The taste is present in green vari...

Boil the BD wort
Is it discouraged to boil the Brew Demon liquid extracts? For many reason I've read that a 60 minute boil is what must be done. Making tasty beer is more important to me than saving time.
Thanks in advance!
