Re: Kits VS DIY

One of my favorite IPAs comes as a kit. I looked on several sites and added the individual ingredients. Could not come close to the kit price so although I brew it quite often, I will continue to buy the kit 2-3 at a time. Other than that, they are all recipes I or others have conjured up.

Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?

Just starting the boil session on a Munich Helles. Did the steps, although not required with the modern modified grains of today but, I enjoy doing it. Seriously, I do believe it adds more depth/flavor to the beer. I've done this same recipe as a straight ale, it's ok but, having done the step, I ca...

Re: Strawberry Wine.

I made a strawberry-pear recently, can't wait for it to condition out. Sampled when bottled, tasted good. If I like how it turns out, next season I may do alot but most of this years crop, and it was heavy, went towards pies with rhubarb. Bumper crop with rhubarb also.

Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?

Have a carboy with Honey-Rye Cream ale going, sitting besides it is a Strawberry-Pear hard cider but it went together more like a wine. Will be interesting in a few weeks to see how that turns out, haven't done one such as this before.

Re: Honey Rye Cream Ale - RCE

Take a gander at the Munich Helles in my Kolsch thread. It's pretty darn good too me thinks! Yea, this one's a good recipe but I can't claim it totally, my RCE partner did all the heavy lifting.

Re: Kolsch Malt

I'll have to give that a shot. Just received notice they've shipped my order so i should be good to go for a couple batches. Most recipes I've seen for Munich Helles used Kolsch so I've stuck to that. I'm willing to try recipes if anyone has a tried/trued one they use. I've tried to stay true to sty...

Re: Kolsch Malt

This is what I'm brewing when I find the Kolsch. I have brewed a few times, it is pretty darn good if I do say so myself. It was started as an RCE but my paired partner crapped out on me. Shame, he missed a very nice brew. Anyways, here it is if ... he... and anyone else would like to try it. I foun...

Kolsch Malt

Does anyone know where I can find some Kolsch malt? Only place I can find it is https://austinhomebrew.com/products/kolsch-malt-lb. I don't need 50 pounds, they list it as 9,999.99/lb...LOL I even put some in my cart and it shows at this price. Sent a message a couple days ago and so far, no answer ...

Re: RO Water

Still haven't had the time to test the water but I did find out the harness is 8.0. Have done a couple batches and so far, both have been low on the expected OG. I need to get it done.... if I can get caught up on my chores.... never ends. 1st batch is conditioning and second one is on counter bubbl...

Re: Kegging Advice

I hooked up the Keg to 10 psi CO2. I will keep it pressurized for approx 5 weeks \ That will work but I must ask, what temp will keg be sitting at? 10PSI will be extremely low on carbonation. My storage room sits year round ~54f, for ale, I set ~18psi, wheat which I do alot of, ~24psi. Ciders ~20ps...

Re: Kegging Advice

Once I have set pressure where I want it, I disconnect the line. If you have done a good job of sealing the o-ring, it will not leak down, unless you have a bad seal. I use food grade silicon on the o-ring, it allows it to seal tightly. If you wish, before you disconnect, and I do occasionally, use ...
