Re: StarSan - powerful stuff - note of caution

I'd have to search for a ton of older threads/posts but I believe the one step type no rinse powders become hydrogen peroxide once the water is added and that does have antiseptic properties. If you mix the star san product in distilled water it will not "go bad" because the sanitizing eff...

Re: Low Gravity - Again

Have you checked in on BS yet? BB2 didn't want to do the upgrade right away, mostly because of saved data issues but he likes to wait for the chatter about issues before doing most upgrades. It is a bummer to work on a recipe, plan, shop and set up for a brew day and then have to grab some DME last ...

Re: Warm and Cold Conditioning

John we are not kegging and cold crash all batches before we bottle but the beers spent all of the time carbing and conditioning at whatever temp the beer closet was at the time we stored them. They only went into the fridge for testing ( a bottle at a time) or consumption (chilling a supply from th...

Re: What have I gotten myself into?

Assimilation must be gradual, voluntary and very subliminal! Agreed Beer-Lord can you print up a big ole stack of Borg themed coasters that could land on every flat surface at his meetings; not to big just something subtle yet grabbing. ;) Good luck Mr. McGoo I bet you'll be the best president in t...

Re: Brewless since May.

Sad to say but the title is true. We put a contract on another house in May and put ours up for sale. We closed on both at the end of Aug and we are SLOWLY moving into the new but MUCH smaller house. We are in the exact same boat but haven't brewed for over year as we had a very hard time finding a...

Re: MBAA Brewery Engineering

Girlfriend you have gone and gotten yourself one totally cool job. And I thought I was  it going for marine biology. And, later this month, I'll be heading to the MBAA Brewing and Malting Science course (which I think would be more useful for homebrewers). Should be fun! Any chance of sm...

Re: What are you drinking?

Just discovered that I'm a fan of sours. And since BB2 decided that he definitely is not I had this one all to myself. Octoberfests and Sours 002.JPG I don't know if this one was well made as I haven't tried others yet and this local brewery only makes one decent beer. Their IPA go figure. He had a ...

Re: I may need to end this...

It seems odd that a stout would have been the beer to trigger the weak spot. Any idea how many brews they lasted for? I wonder if the weak spots would show up under a bright light against the empty plastic. I look for hairline cracks etc. in my glass when I'm fixing to put them on the bottle tree an...

Re: Happening Today

It must be a seasonal thing with the black snakes. Both my contractor and the electrician were here today and had sightings. Fattening up for the winter I guess. My dog is going to be bummed if Chipmunk Charlie becomes a snake appetizer. @ The Hat my one of the builders' assistants wants extra work ...

Rick if she doesn't mind that you keep another woman on the side, in your beer forum I mean  , have her PM me and I'll have a girl to girl talk with her about how to treat beer properly. :D But seriously a bottle bomb in a PET bottle I didn't know that could even happen. :o Look on the brig...

Re: Happening Today

This is SOOO not good. Someone had posted a pic afew days ago on our Nextdoor forum asking what kind of snake was on her back porch and I thought OH! you poor lady. And yesterday I look out of my kitchen window and here comes a 4 foot long black snake. Understand that our shower is a cordoned off se...
