Re: Root Beer Carbonation "control"???

THANKS for the reply Mr. Beer - - that was FAST!!! So, I think I waited too long to get bottles into the fridge then. After 1 day bottles were still soft but became very hard (one small bottle popped its top, lol) on the second day. So somewhere in the middle I need to check and, at that point, I ca...

Root Beer Carbonation "control"???

Good afternoon all, I have been experimenting with some root beer recipes and am close to one I think I like; however, the plastic bottles seem to be so carbonated that I lose half a bottle after opening due to foaming over or even caps exploding. Is there a way to control this consistently? I have ...

fermenting and conditioning temps (live in the tropics)

Good afternoon all, my wife and I have recently began brewing hard cider with the Brew Demon kits and we've just placed a homemade recipe with mango in the fermenter to see how we can improvise without a pre-measured kit periodically using local ingredients available to us in Belize. Since we now li...

Re: any cider makers out there

THANKS FrozenInTime! We are making sweet and bubbly cider (mainly) when we make cider. Unfortunately, no one here in our village sells frozen concentrate but I will look to see if it is available in one of our larger cities...they are just 2 hours away, lol, from where we live. I have a brew demon 3...

Re: any cider makers out there

Thank you John and Swenocha for the information - most helpful! John, you mention adding sugar back in do you add it when bottling or when consuming? The first batch produced was a Brew Demon blackberry. It did come across quite dry after 2 weeks of bottle conditioning so we were going to wait anoth...

any cider makers out there

So as I am working my way back into beer and cider making after a 15 year hiatus I have been downloading as much information as I can find. Seeing some videos on YouTube of homebrewers using local raw ingredients for creating their ciders (i.e. making their own apple mash). Currently, using Brewer's...

Re: Homebrewing in the tropics

THANK YOU John and Mashani! I appreciate the assistance and support. The ice packs over the fermenter on the second brew have made a big difference on what I am racking today John. The must sample I tasted seemed right on point. My wife is heading back to the states in a couple weeks so I will have ...

Homebrewing in the tropics

Good morning all! So I recently started homebrewing in Belize and have been working with the great guys over at Brew Demon on equipment and product. I've bottle conditioned my first batch of cider (blackberry) and now ready to rack the second (Red Devil's Wheat). My challenge on the first 2 rounds i...

access to brewing supplies in belize

Good morning everyone! I am new to beer & cider brewing and after ordering several kits from Brew Demon have now racked my first cider and have a second in the fermenter working. The folks over at Brew Demon have been GREAT to work with. I have a few expat colleagues here in Belize that are inte...
