Re: Homebrewing rises during pandemic
With my job leading a medical group, I have been pretty much dealing with Covid-19 all day, every day. Thankfully in Indy, we have not been overwhelmed. Lots of very sick patients but everyone is the system has pulled together in an incredible way. Small victories as some patients recover and go hom...

Re: Eight years ago today...
I received a Mr Beer kit for Christmas 2009. I brewed my first batch, the WCPA, on January 1, 2010, so I just hit 10 years. Haven't brewed as much the past 2 years because my wife has had some health issues and I owe her more of my spare time. Still enjoy brewing. Today I brewed a Honey Bourbon Dark...

Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?
Brewing a Wee Heavy Scottish Ale. First brew in several months. I have too many great local breweries around here. It is so easy to get great beer I have just not brewed much of my own. Hope to brew more in the next few months.

it has been a while
Hi everyone, Haven't been here in some time and have not brewed in several months. Life got in the way of my brewing. My wife, Kathy, had a life threatening illness in June and is just now getting back close to normal. It is quite a story. I will share the short version with you. On June 3rd, she aw...

Re: Exercising and heart rates
I have gradually moved from running to more cycling and elliptical trainer due to knee issues. I really loved running at least as far a 1/2 marathon distances, but a couple of meniscus tears and some nagging Achilles tendinitis has made running less appealing. I was a competive swimmer until college...

Re: How much/often do you drink?
It is a good fun workout. Saturdays I ride with a group of 8-10 riders and we tend to go a bit faster, about 16.5 to 17 mph. Ten years ago I could set the pace with this group, but they are all younger than I, so now my goal is not to get dropped. HR is usually in the 135 range but I may hit 170 on ...

Re: Exercising and heart rates
Mashani, it looks to me that no only are you incredibly fit, but you have payed proper attention to your body and have had the appropriate tests. PAC’s are generally not serious at all, but it is good that you had the 72 hour monitor. Caffeine does increase both PAC’s and PVC’s and exercise does red...

Re: Exercising and heart rates
You also need to consider the device you are using. I use a Garmin HRM strap for cycling and it matches us extremely well with my Apple Watch. I have a Polar HRM strap that I use on the Elliptical trainer that generally correlates well with the watch but occasionally gives exercise readings that are...

Re: How much/often do you drink?
Yeah, Mashani, that is one intense exercise routine. Good for you, though. You may need to drink beer just to keep from losing weight. I generally drink 1-2 beers 5-6 days per week. I exercise routinely, 40 minutes of intense work on an elliptical trainer and 30 minutes of resistance training 3 days...
