Re: And then there was one...

We've got a mighty fine shop in Louisville, who actually just expanded their hours. But Lexington lost their store about a year ago. In Indy, there is the major shop, Great Fermentations (who I recommend for online shopping too), and the smaller Final Gravity, who also does a great job and is much m...

Re: Are IPAs ruining everything?

About 4 years ago, I went to Revolution Brewing in Chicago. 20 taps, and 18 of them were IPAs. They were fine, but all pretty similar beers with different hop profiles. I like IPAs, but that showed me they were brewing on trend and not in skill. It was disappointing. They just started distributing i...

Split batch suggestions?

I knew I wasn't reinventing the wheel here. Seems like Belgian/Saison or wheat (yeast dominant styles) with a clean yeast partner seems to be the prevailing pattern. I appreciate the combinations shared. I've done oak aged, but usually not 5 gallons. More like 1-2 split off. Thanks for ideas, folks!...

Split batch suggestions?

So, my wife quit her job back in December, which really affected our budget. Things are looking up, but cash is a bit tight right now. Since then, I've been trying to keep the beer flowing, but as cost efficient as possible. Brew days have been few and far between, but continuing nonetheless for the...

Re: Red-X Simcoe Wheat

Maybe it'll come around with age. Or you can throw some fruit extract in there, (strawberry perhaps), and cover the blandness.

It's still beer!

Re: Bourbon Barrel Stout Beer Syrup 30% off

What are your thought of using the syrup addition at flameout or just before pitching for the Bourbon Barrel effect in a stout? Can't say I know. It's not meant for brewing, per say. I'd imagine you could use it like any other syrup, which can be done. And I'd guess it would be good as a p...

Ha! You guys are hilarious! The Pecan Brown, chocolate porter, and cider flavors are great too. No IPA, though. It’d be pretty darn bitter. But I’ll forward the request. :)

We hope to bring the other flavors to Amazon soon.

Bourbon Barrel Stout Beer Syrup 30% off

Hi all, I checked with Leigh and got the go ahead on posting this, so here it goes. A buddy of mine owns The Beer Syrup Company, the first (and maybe only) commercial beer syrup producer in the US. The product is pretty awesome. He hand crafts beer, then uses a proprietary process to turn it into a ...

Re: 2018 hop rhizome exchange

I'm on year 3 of a cascade (I think) start from bp. It's been solid! Do you have a link to what to look for for the rhizomes? I feel like I may have a few to dig up, with several offshoots last year several feet away, but don't want to mess up the main plant.
