Re: Ebay Caps by the Thousand
Still haven't moved to kegging. With just me and my wife, can't really justify it based on consumption. I'd waste beer cleaning taps and lines... Maybe when we retire in 2021 I'll make that move. Yeah, that's the ticket!

Re: Ebay Caps by the Thousand
Just bottled my last batch with these caps. I have 2 left. I've bought a bunch from my LHBS, Adventures in Homebrewing , when they put them on sale. Currently, you can get 144 for $1.79. Agner & Wolf . Old Nation for $1.99 . And some others. The Ebay ones were $29.95 for 2,000 or 1.5 cents each....

Re: Has anybody traveled with whole hops?
The TSA has no power to stop you from transporting hops. https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/all The TSA employees are not law enforcement professionals. They cannot arrest you. They can summon an air marshal or a policeman, but that official cannot arrest you for transportin...

Re: Kegging advice needed
Have you sat down and run numbers - diameter of lines, length of lines, temp of beer, carbonation chart? Ideally, you want to be serving at 38 degrees. Foaming is caused by two things - too much pressure, or too warm temperatures, or both. You need to be at equilibrium. https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaw...

Re: An informational message for the 1st timers
Welcome to our happy place. Just to make what others have said clear though, you can make any kind of beer in your brew demon fermenter. You just have to scale the recipe down to 2.5 gallons and have whatever other equipment is needed for that kind of beer. For all grain you need a bigger pot then ...

Re: Two SE breweries fold
Those that chose to expand via distribution are having problems. Those that remain a brewpub, with only self-distribution locally, are not. In your area? No, in general. I know of two that lost huge dollars until they stopped distributing, except self-distribution. Margins are awful and they end up...

Northern Brewer sold again

Re: Brewing on the road
The beer is going to slosh around. I would not ferment under those conditions as you suggest you would not either. As far as transporting, keep in mind that anything tapped is open. It is illegal to drive with open containers of beer in most states. If you were pulled over, and they searched the veh...

Re: Grainfather
Price is the same at multiple sites, but the sack of grain is unique to Northern, owned by AB-InBev. Interesting economics, because the Grainfather is drop shipped from the manufacturer, but the bag of grain would be shipped by Northern, or drop shipped by someone else. Adventures in Homebrewing doe...

Re: Review of several BrewDemon Recipes
Thanks for the reviews. Without consulting my notes, I recall preferring BrewDemon to MrBeer. Unless something changed, BrewDemon is using the old Mr. Beer HME supplier (I don't keep up with BrewDemon). Mr. Beer is now using new owner Cooper's HMEs. They are far superior to the old Mr. Beer / curre...

Re: BrewDemon BOGO thru 4/30/19 w/ a Pilsner question
Sometimes the BOGO sales are due to stock having a "Best Buy Date" that is expiring / has expired. Make sure you read the offer carefully.
Cans of HME can be used about 2 years after the date, but the brew will be darker, and may be a bit sweeter.
