Re: Spike CF5 conical fermenter
I also forgot post an update on when I used the blow off tube to push Starsan out of a keg to purge it before racking into it. I thought that discussion was in this thread, but I can't recall where it is. Short story - it worked great - although the last beer was a Berliner Weiss at just over 3% so ...

Re: Spike CF5 conical fermenter
The latest toy/attachment came last night. It's for oxygenating wort through the carb stone.
They put out a nice short video that shows it better than I can explain it:

Re: So this happened
Glad to hear that you're getting some clearance to keep doing what you enjoy - albeit modified.
It's easy to say from a distance, but things could have been much worse, right?

Re: The No Post Post
I've been long thinking about it, and will probably do it (to some extent) on my next batch. It will go something like this: - Fill 5 gallon keg with Starsan - Put wort into fermenter with blowoff tube going into keg gas post - Connect QD out to tubing into another 5 gallon keg (if I have another em...

Re: Mash and Boil for 250.00
Here's another (expensive) option: https://spikebrewing.com/products/new-spike-solo-system?var=42516267270380 I sure know about that one and my favorite of all the ones I’ve seen, maybe if I was ten years younger ha ha. For now just going to put the $40 board on the M&B and continue on as have ...

Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?
My next brew is going to be a red session IPA. I'm taking the recipe that Black Duck, beer-Lord (and maybe others) collaborated on called Simply Simarillo and making some tweaks to it.
Specifically, removing the Vienna malt in exchange for some dextrose, and swapping ~50% of the base malt with Red-X.
