Introducing Redneck Blush to the Borg

This is a simple twist of the many old Welch's Grape juice wine recipies out there. It has become a permanent member in my rotation. I used to bottle these in reg wine bottles then started using the 1.5 ltr magnums but decided to just keg it going forward. My current cost is $27.16 and would yield a...

Re: Just curious

53 for me.

Just like everyone else, I started with a MB kit about 4 years ago. Moved to 5 gal Brewers Best kits after a few batches of MB.

I'm going to do a few BD refills as I get back into the swing of things. BD Hellfire Red Ale is arriving tomorrow!

Re: The Promote Your LHBS Thread

I really miss these guys since we moved from PA into OH. They are about a 35 minute drive now. They started selling homebrew supplies about 5 years ago. Top notch people in my book. http://jrsbeer.com/brands/homebrew/ TRUE STORY I had the BEST customer service experience ever there. About 3 years ag...

Re: I love to brew, but...

keglet I like that term, "keglet". I seem to be drinking more wine these days so I've made a few adjustments to my rotation. I kegged a 2.5 batch of beer in my "keglet" and then kegged a 5 gal batch of "redneck blush" in my big boy keg. We'll see how this works out.

Re: Looking to brew bigger batches

@roger I went thru a similar transition a few years ago from LBKs to big ole fermenting pails. I had the space and it worked well. Now that I've downsized, the space just is not available. Like others have said, keeping a couple small fermentors still allow for bigger batches and there is something ...

Re: 2 gallon batches are fun!

Since I used to have tons of space in my old house, 5 gal batches seemed to make sense. I had a few large bucket fermentors, 5 gallon kegs and 5 gal kits / recipes are so common. Fast forward 8 months and that space is gone. It will be interesting for me moving forward with the smaller batches. Mayb...

2 gallon batches are fun!

Since we downsized, I lost my designated area in my old basement to store all my brewing supplies. I decided to grab the old LBK out of storage and do a quick 20 min boil on the kitchen stove yesterday. I must say, the ease of moving around 2 VS 5 gallons of water and wort really appealed to me. Bre...

Re: Share your unpopular opinion

This may be the most unpopular opinion. I brewed for the first time in our new house. A simple batch of my old cheap ass beer recipe. Well, my induction burner tripped the breaker twice, I almost had a boil over and the hose to my immersion chiller did not fit on my laundry tub sink. Luckily, we had...

Re: Anybody growing hops?

I grew 2 cascade up my corner deck rails in our old house. In the 2nd year, the harvest was huge. All I did was run twine from a tent peg to top of the deck post. I trained one vine and snipped off the rest. That thing grew like crazy. Note: they almost took over our flower garden in yr 3. Here's so...

Almost 8 months and it now time to brew

I last brewed in May 2016. We sold our house in July and moved into a new place in late August. We goofed off on the lake the rest of the summer and all of the fall. All my brew stuff is still in storage but I now see the light at the end of the tunnel. I took about 12 days off after the holidays an...

Igloo Kegerator at Sams Club for $299

This goes on sale for $299 Sat Nov 12 only. I know the tap system and CO2 tank will be cheap but I plan on...
