Locally Grown Whole Hop Flowers

It's been years since I used whole flower hops in any of my beers. All because of the bad experience I had with a Mr. Beer batch. The whole hops weren't the cause of the infection this batch ultimately had. It was the galvanized steel strainer I used to keep the hops out of the LBK. I remember how l...

Re: Are we still doing this?

When one of our club members asks a similar question or comes up with a good idea I always ask if they would be willing to chair a committee to do it.

Re: Place To Go When Visiting Nashville

Glad you had fun. The taproom in 12South is for Mill Creek. I've never gone there either. I don't know how long it will last. I talked to someone who worked there and he said they had cut back hours, so.... Brandi (who runs the Filling Station in 12South) is one of my longtime beer buddies in town....

Re: Conditioned Beer...when to drink

Last night I brought to our club meeting two bombers of a Belgian Quad we brewed three years ago. It took second place in the ALEins Monk Melee Belgian Beer competition that year. I stored my share of the bottles on the floor of a closet since we bottled them. Two or three times a year we crack one ...

Re: Place To Go When Visiting Nashville

Would you believe I never stepped inside a single brewery while there?! Although I had plenty of Bearded Iris, Yazoo and other local beers both on tap and in cans. We found The Filling Station in 12 South that had over a dozen beers on tap and shelves stocked floor to ceiling with what I thought wer...

Re: Place To Go When Visiting Nashville

I gotta ask. How did they get that Cadillac stuck to the wall at Tootsies?! What a great time in Nashville! So much great music, so little time. I can't remember seeing so many skyscrapers under construction in a city before. The house we stayed at was a short drive down 8th Ave to Broadway. W...

Re: BRAND NEW ezRecipe-RO© - βeta Testers Wanted

I'm happy to say that ezRecipe Design 2.01.03 is just about ready to be made available. You may notice the ezHOMEBREWING website is in a bit of disarray now. Changing the site over to focus on the upcoming release is taking a fair amount of time to do correctly. Here are the minimum requirements for...

Re: Place To Go When Visiting Nashville

Thanks for all of the tips on places to visit while in Nashville. I'll be getting there today just in time for St. Patrick's Day tomorrow. I'm thinking there may be lots of celebrating to do!

Re: BRAND NEW ezRecipe-RO© - βeta Testers Wanted

I spent a few days researching a topic that tends to confuse a fair amount of brewers. It has everything to do with brewing system profiles and efficiencies. My understanding of the differences is as follows. Selecting 'Fermentor Efficiency' calculates the percentage of the sugars converted in the m...

Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?

This month I plan to brew a Pale Ale using organically grown whole Cascade and Cashmere hops. It'll be my first Pale Ale in quite some time and the first time using whole hops in years.

I'm enjoying a Fir Tip Honey Amber Ale on tap this week. Brewed using organically grown Concolor Fir tips and locally sourced honey.

Re: BRAND NEW ezRecipe-RO© - βeta Testers Wanted

I got your email with the latest version, but still haven't had a chance to use it. I really like the feature of importing and exploring beerxml files. I may try that with some existing recipes I've got in BeerSmith. I don't think the BeerSmith use of BeerXLM 2.0 will be 100% compatible with ezReci...

Re: Yeast Calculator

Thanks for sharing, I bookmarked the link to their yeast calculator. One of the benefits of buying from a local homebrew store is you get to see how they store their yeast and the package date before buying. I understand your frustration with Austin Homebrew though, you think they would know better ...

I will be emailing out the latest update of ezRecipe 2.01.02 first thing tomorrow morning. In the meantime, I've uploaded a new video to YouTube showing how to change grain values right on the recipe design page.
