Re: Spit batch brew test.
I think this plan is awful. One of the major tenants of brewing is SANITATION. You simply can't spit in your beer and think that it's going to come out good. Spit in one batch, and not the other? Really? What? He meant SPLIT batch brew test, not SPIT batch brew test? :o VrbybKWwb7c That’s how I get...

Split batch brew test.
I’m thinking of brewing a 3.5 gallon batch IPA on my M and B with the plan of splitting the wort into (3) one gallon single hop batches. I would use the same bittering hop for each batch and all the rest of the hop additions would be at a hopstand of around 170 for 30-40 minutes. I’ll add two dry ho...

I didn’t cold steep for 24 hours. It was more like 12-16 hours. Maybe that’s the difference.

First Round 2018 NHC
I received my scores last week. I brewed an Oatmeal Stout. I scored a 40 and a 38. I’m really happy with those numbers! This is only my second competition. I agree with the judges’ comments about my beer. The main area that brought my score down was a general comment of more flavor. I doubled the da...

Re: New all-purpose lager/ale yeast
I read that Brulosophy entry before I ordered the yeast. I was curious to try the Brulosophy Blend. I think it makes more sense to get the yeast that is specifically used for whatever style I am brewing. The blend is acceptable for the NEIPA but not great. I’m open to the possibility that the hop co...

Re: New all-purpose lager/ale yeast
I just sampled my NEIPA with Cascade, Amarillo and Citra that used the Brulosophy Blend. I used 2 oz of each hop for total of 6 oz for a 3 gallon batch. I only used .3 oz at 60 minutes for bittering. The rest were all whirlpool for 40,30 and 20 minutes starting at 170 degrees. The remaining 3 oz wer...

Re: Mash and Boil for 250.00
You guys are really making want to brew another batch.
I have an IPA fermenting that used the Brulosophy blended yeast. It has slowed down at 1.015 after 6 days in the fermenter. I haven’t checked it today but I’ve already ramped the temperature up to 72.

Re: Mash and Boil for 250.00
Hello everyone! I've been involved in the conversations going on over on the FB page for the Mash and Boil, and Berryman invited me over here to check things out. I've had my M&B for about a year now and have done about 18 batches on it. I bought the unit originally to do small BIAB batch as te...

Re: Mash and Boil for 250.00
I ran my 3rd brew on the Mash And Boil yesterday. I used the timer function to preheat my strike water and be ready after I woke up. This brew was a NEIPA. I need a beer for a party that’s coming up. 100 years old! The birthday girl won’t be at the party. I reset my Beersmith equipment profile to ma...

Re: New all-purpose lager/ale yeast
Motueka is described as lime. Maybe I’ll save it for a single hop brew. Sorry.I don’t mean to send this yeast thread of on a tangent.Beer-lord wrote:Most feel tropical/fruity hops are the best for an NEIPA but you can make one with almost any hop combo. I'd go as heavy as you can with the Amarillo and Citra.
