Re: Morebeer Cellar Science yeast
I've seen it said it is not repackaged US-05 but who really knows. It's said this was the Pro Brewers version of Cali yeast so maybe it is. It is hard to believe that 1 gram more of this yeast can handle a 1.080 wort. Where's the transparency in yeast? :) I'm just saying that's what I used it in. ~...

Re: Flat beer
Can I add sugar to re-carbonate. I changed bottles after conditioning for 14 days and the beer is flat. It would be alcohol abuse to throw out the beer. Short answer yes, but maybe think as to why didn't the bottles carbonate the first time? Did you add enough sugar to carbonate the beer? Where the...

Re: Morebeer Cellar Science yeast
I have used the Cal Ale so far. I used it in a Sweet Stout with additions to be a desert like S'mores Stout. It seemed to take off and do just fine for me. I can't comment on the clarity much since it was such a dark beer but it took a 1.080-ish OG mashed ~154 down to 1.020, but there was some simpl...

Re: 10 yr Anniversary Beer
I kicked this yrs batch up a bit, last night I added Whisky Oak Chips, Cocao Nibs and some flavored coffee to the fermenter. Going to give that a few days and taste over the weekend, bottle this up then or shortly into next week. For anyone looking to try Oak or replicate the Barrel Aged flavor, I h...

Re: s 33 dry yeast
I always thought it was a middle ot the road yeast,. Not great, not bad. It's got a good temperature range, so it's good for people who can't control temperature. And it does ok for many styles of beer. Its alcohol tolerance allows most beers to brew. But. I usually brew ipas and apas. I prefer usi...

Re: S-33 dry yeast
Old thread, just bring it back to life. I just used S-33 for the first time in many years. I have always liked it, well never had anything against it anyway. I picked up a 3 pack on Amazon for $8 when doing some Holiday shopping several weeks back. I decided to try it in a Porter, it was the 2nd run...

Re: What Happened To The Black Spigot?
I just bought a 2 gallon fermenting tub from brewdemon and it had a black spigot, but it lasted 2 brews and it broke. I have since seen lot of reviews that there's also broke. Maybe they are changing them?. I got new ones from Amazon Do you have a link for the spigots you found on Amazon? I got the...

Re: Carbonation
Here's a good informative video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwCEGsyMvPc I have never carbonated in a regular Pub Style growler, so I can't comment on that. I have however carbonated in the heavier, swing top style growlers and feel completely safe doing so. I think the argument lies more in wha...

Re: Another new year and trying something different.
This thread had me thinking about my session Saturday night. First batch of the year was a rebrew of the Imperial Stout I did last January. I had my RoboBrew maxed out with about 16 lbs of grain and almost 6 gals of water to start. This mash was so thick, I could barely run the pump enough to recirc...

Re: What beer/brewing stuff did Santa bring you?
I also got a Brew Demon Conical...the 3 gal Amber colored one. I have mostly fermented in my kegs for a few years now but I wanted a nice fermenter for batches that I do bottle. I have also been brewing a lot of smaller batches lately, the kegs have been nice but sometimes I also miss checking on th...

Re: First batch of the new year
I drank on New Years Eve, but haven't poured anything since. All I have left is some of the Brown Ale, the Hazy and Amber Ale were kicked New Years Eve like I figured they would be...they were all smaller batches. First batch of the New Year might be an Imperial Stout so I can get that going, did it...

Re: Another new year and trying something different.
A spin off of what Mashani said, maybe you could split the grain bill as best you can (I don't know if the grains come packaged separately or all together) into two mashes. After the first mash, transfer that wort over to a kettle and boil it down for a bit, while the 2nd mash is taking place or jus...

Re: What will you be drinking to ring in 2021?
Going to be sippin' on an Amber Ale keg hopped with Cascade and Cintennial, an American/English hybrid Brown Ale and a Hazy lil' Something with Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy, Amarillo and Azzaca hops. These were small batches, I have a little left of each, mostly the NEIPA, so I'm guessing we put these away...

Re: What beer/brewing stuff did Santa bring you?
That is a cool gift, I have seen the drink Horns in the past. I did get some brewing related little stuff. But my main present was my wife working on my little corner of the garage where I brew. She made the area into more of a little bar area and we have some ideas to keep expanding on it. She has ...
