Re: Back in brewing mode...

Morning BORG :borg: Grinding the grain for #2.... Thought it wasn't gonna happen until Wed. I had to break out my cheapo Harbor Freight drill that smokes when I use it on the mill...my Craftsman cordless is getting puny in it's advanced age and won't turn it anymore. Got a 7 amp corded 1/2" cor...

Re: Back in brewing mode...

Glad you are back and ready. I sometimes go for long stretches without brewing and this summer has been the worst for me. Come on winter where the only thing I have to do everyday is plow the driveway and make beer... Man, I dread the thoughts of winter...we're in the low 50's right now and I'm not...

Back in brewing mode...

Afternoon BORG :borg: ... been a while since I've posted anything even though I do lurk on a fairly regular basis... I haven't brewed probably since July  between work and the weather, mainly the weather...no time or chance when I wasn't working... We've had a tornado skip thru town about a...

Re: Ancient Jim Beam

My wife's aunt, before her move to Florida, gave us a collection of liquor she had . It had a bottle of Jim Beam in it that was purchased in the early 70's in a collector bottle that had a deer or moose on it... in fact it had a paper state seal on! Anyway, I researched and learned that the wh...

Sipping on some Jose Cuervo...
it's become my drink of choice in the evening, fewer trips
to the bathroom during the night, and if I over do it...
less suffering the next day :p

Re: What are you Smokin', Grillin' or Cookin'?

Got an 11 lb pork butt that's been on the smoker since 8:30 last night... expect it will take about 16 -20 hours to finish. Found a cool little device called Tip Top Temperature Regulator. It's holding the Akorn at 225-235 and has all night long... it's a breeze to use and takes alot of the headache...

Re: Mandarina Bavaria

I'm not particularly fond of this beer... I brewed it exactly to the recipe. I'm picking up some hints of the orange and citrus but I'm getting a strong bitterness, and as little Warrior as I used I wouldn't expect that. Next time I'll try it as a SMaSH and as Duck suggested, double all the addition...

Re: Bored with Brewing?

Some people get into a hobby all gung hoe for a while and then move on to something else, some stick with it for a long time but can have their slow times, but stay with it. Some just leave all together. The way it works.... Story of my life guys! I have an extremely short attention span and I only...

Re: Do You Crush Your Own Grain?

Yes I do... I use a Corona style mill and power it with my Craftsman cordless drill... The reason I started doing this was because my LHBS couldn't sell me grain at what I thought was a reasonable price. When I told them I was only paying $1.02 a lb for two row, they told me they couldn't match that...

Re: Midwest Supply Sale

That's a great deal. I pay $49 locally for Rahr, Briess or Great Mountain but how do you get it so cheap with shipping? Last time I looked at Morebeer they wanted $30 to ship to me. The grain is only 39.99 and they are only charging me 13.75 for shipping... it may be due to the fact I'm only a coup...
