Re: Honey Rye Cream Ale - RCE

Not sure what Mash did, but I only used the sugar on the original recipe which is in the first post. After that, I dropped the sugar and increased the grain a bit. I would have to compare recipes to see the amounts.

Re: Bottling a Lager

Now that I think about it, I bottled all of my beers cold without adding more yeast. I always cold crashed the fermenter to drop as much crap out as possible, which helps make the final product clearer. After bottling, they do need to come back up to room temp and stay there for a couple weeks to ca...

Re: 1 down. 1 to go. Then 2 weeks.

Other than a little arm ache at the injection site, I have no other side effects from yesterday’s shot, my second Pfizer. In fact, the arm pain is less this time compared to the first shot. I hope I’m past the time frame where I would see any side effects. May wife gets her second shot next week, th...

Re: Bottling a Lager

When I used to bottle my lagers, I always cold crashed first. Then, while still cold, I would batch prime and bottle. After bottling, they would remain out of them fridge for three weeks to carbonate. After that, they would all go in the fridge to lager and stay cold. I would notice that they really...

Re: Honey Rye Cream Ale - RCE

I finally got to brewing this yesterday. My mash temp came in a little low at 146.5 instead of 148. So I let it go for 75 minutes. My OG was high. Came in at 1.054, should have been 1.050. Oh well!!! If it finishes at 1.008 as it’s supposed to, it’s going to be almost 6% ABV. A bit high for a cream ...

Re: 1 down. 1 to go. Then 2 weeks.

I was poking around on the internet yesterday and found some open appointments.....for today. They seem to pop up and disappear as quick as they appear. I was lucky enough to grab one. So the first shot is in the arm and the second dose is already scheduled. Better than waiting until April for the f...

Re: 1 down. 1 to go. Then 2 weeks.

Yesterday was the first day for me to be eligible. My wife sent me a text in the morning while I was in a meeting. She scheduled hers for the 29th, through her MyChart at OSU med center. Got out of my meeting 30 minutes later and all appointment were filled. Searched and searched and finally got one...

Re: Second batch

So are these heavy on the peanut butter? Or do they still taste like whiskey, only with a touch of peanut butter flavor?

Re: Welcome New Members

Hey there Potts. I like a good strong IPA, but in the summer, I’m after a good Kolsch, Czech Pils or even a cream ale. Home brewing allows me to stick up on those without killing the wallet! Welcome to the Borg.
