Re: I'm stumpified...
Mill gap absolutely will change it drastically, had a bout of 5 or 6 batches that were missing by .010-.012 on OG, found the gap on my mill had backed off by only .008, tightened the .008 and another .003 and have been a bit over OG and volume.

Welcome to the Borg, looks like these guys got you covered. I'll throw my two cents in for the 2 smaller ones easier to handle if need be.

Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?
For Big Brew Day, a group from our local Club got together @ LHBS to brew, I ended up doing a double (Wheat and Vienna Lager) and my thought on saving a bit of time and logistics of how to utilize the brew pot and HLT and MT efficiently I decided to do a full volume mash for the wheat beer Friday ni...

Saw this on FB, someone had put it into a cart and it was not that price, it ended up closer to $500. Bait and switch.
Re: Milling
When we toured Sierra Nevada, in their milling room they sprayed the grain before it was dumping into the mill.

T.R.A.S.H. XXIX
Past Saturday had 4 beers entered, scored one silver medal for Kolsch, had mishap with 4 as the bottom fell out of one of the carriers. Happened to be that one broke and the label popped off the other, my infinite wisdom said just pop the top and pour a small bit to see which it was, I did then just...

Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?
Have my Brown Ale, Irish Red, Kolsch and Dawg LB Pale Ale. First two should do good, first time entering Kolsch but I softened the water up this time I brewed and it is as good as any I've had from local breweries. Would love to have the Dawg LB to medal so they announce the Dawg LB winning in Pitts...

Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?
Bottled 4 entries for T.R.A.S.H. XXIX in Pittsburgh this weekend that I am stewarding at, bottom fell out of one of the 4 pack carriers broke one bottle, label popped off another. Luckily it happened at home and not as I was bringing them in Saturday morning, two different beers I was able to identi...

Re: First batch problems.
Agree'd 1 week is absolutely not long enough, need to be kept at 70-75 degrees to condition for generally 3-4 weeks. I'd bet the off taste you are getting is acetaldehyde which is kind of green apple and cidery, it is an example of a young beer seems prominent in HME's more than other methods, this ...
