Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?
Yes. I like it and easy, APA is my favorite beer and that is a good combination. Yeah, that kit is a good one. My experience with their Pliney the Elder clone kit was also good when I made that. I'll second that, too. Mine lacked some aroma 'pop' of the original, but it was a damn good beer. The on...

Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?
I brewed a beer with pale malt, 40L, and a bunch of Centennial that should be similar to Bells 2 Hearted IPA I think.

Re: Fake beer
One thing to note is that when you drive off the alcohol, you'll be concentrating some other flavors (especially hops), so you may want to cut back on the amount of hops that you use (or end up with a hoppier than intended beer, which may be ok). You will also be driving off some of the aroma compo...

Re: Oh, what should I brew next?
I'm burning through my yeast as temperatures in my basement change. So I'm using notty or lager yeasts right now. I may do a belated maibock, and some IPAs/IPLs. I'll switch to verdant when it gets a bit warmer which won't be very long. So those will likely be IPAs or APAs or English beers (Verdant ...

Re: Cans vs bottles: what science says
That article misses that those British IPAs were like 100% bittering hops. Metric shit tons of them. From a how they survive in bottles or age standpoint, they would be very different than any modern IPAs. They were an evolution of the old-world Burton Ales that I've made (and should make again as t...

Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?
I bottled that Humming clone thing, and I think it will be similarish enough for me to really enjoy it. I brewed 6 gallons of West Coast style IPA from a grain bill standpoint at least, using 2oz of Citra and 3oz of BRU-1 hops. Would probably make a good hazy with that combo, but I keep seeing peopl...

Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?
I brewed an attempted Anchor Humming Ale like substance. Will it turn out similar, I have no idea. But it will be beer. That should be tasty. I really liked that beer when they first released it (I likely still like it, just haven't' seen it). But I do have a recipe (not mine, I found it on HBT) fo...

Re: Peanut Butter Irish Stout
You don't need to boil it, but you do need to at the very least make sure its pasteurized. With the process your using, I think when you turn off the burner you can mix it in, then let it stand for say 10 minutes. Then top up as you like. Or you could in a separate pot boil a little water, mix it in...

Yeah, I could buy some used big 3 vessel systems pretty cheap locally, but I don't want to bother with using such a thing.

Man if you don't think MoreBeers crush is good enough, don't go anywhere near AIH/Austin kits. MoreBeers crush is the best I've seen out of any of the kit beer places.
