Re: FermZilla 27 Liter Tri Conical Fermenter

Word of warning....do not dump yeast/trub/hops while it's under-pressure. Ask me how I know this is a bad idea..... I can only imagine. But doesn't that decrease the utility of pressure fermentation? Or do you do pressure fermentation to reduce ester production, then drop the pressure, dump the tru...

Re: Stout Ideas and suggestions.

I know that your yeast used there will not eat the lactose, but other bugs may happily do it. Yes and will do a boil before adding and when make wine have to kill the yeast before back sweeting or will keep working, but get temp. down low enough wild yeast can't do much either. As far as I know not...

Re: FermZilla 27 Liter Tri Conical Fermenter

Those are a bit taller than the shelf I ferment on, although it could be adjusted. But I do really like that my current fermenters have wide bucket like openings and that I can throw them in my dishwasher. Going back to a narrow opening and more difficult cleaning would be a bit annoying. Pressuriz...

Re: FermZilla 27 Liter Tri Conical Fermenter

Not trying to start a new trend here, but this thing is nice. No, I haven't used it yet but have looked it over and for someone that needs/wants a pressure fermenter that can drop and collect yeast and for this amount of money, yes is a nice unit. I said I would never go back to PET clear or glass a...

Re: Stout Ideas and suggestions.

Using Wyeast 1450 with a starter. I am going to add lactose and is not in the recipe, but I want to add it at kegging after I get my FG. Has anyone done this at kegging or bottling? Kinda like back sweetening wine to taste. I have made milk stouts but have put the lactose in at the end of the boil a...

Stout Ideas and suggestions.

My first brew of the year (and first one since last Aug.) is going to be a Founders Breakfast clone. My problem is the grain bill size, 16.75 and I have done that big in the M&B but my efficiency really falls and it is a lot more work to mash. 13 lbs 2 row and rest (3.75) specialty malts. Questi...

Re: The No Post Post

This go'na be a long berryman post so bypass if don't want to read, we need some talk on here again. I haven't brewed beer since early August when my M&B went down, I seen it was a cheap and easy fix but lots of stuff happened right after. We have a community pig raising deal for a lot of years ...

Merry Christmas to all and everyone and family have a safe holiday season. Hope the storm sweeping across the country isn't affecting anyone too much. Buffalo NY is shut down again this weekend, but here to the south of the city It's just extremely cold and windy.

Re: Mash and Boil for 250.00

My recommendations for any that has one of these units is after used a lot pull the bottom cover and check the connectors to see if any loose connections. The push on's will work for a while but after time and a lot of draw will loosen and make heat and will burn off. This is a good unit for the pri...

Re: Pictures

Mr. berryman, my snow's not as deep as your last picture, but we picked up ~20" by the time it was done. It was half ice, half snow. Took 2.5 days to clear around house and clear driveway. This stuff was hard as concrete, ran out of shear-pins.... LOL Now we're minus 8f, supposed to get really...
