Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?
I haven't brewed since back in May when I did Standard American Lager to have ready for Father's Day. We drank most of that up and I haven't had anything on tap since. It's been a busy summer, just wasn't on the top of priorities lately. I do have to say my tastes have changed a bit as well, I have ...

Re: Beer Flavour Stability in Home Brewing
I will probably be the odd man out on this one. I joined the low oxygen brewing forum a few years ago and have been playing around with low oxygen brewing ever since. I have definitely improved my beers overall and learned a lot along the way. A few adjustments/additions to my process and it's been ...

Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?
Not sure what to brew, I have had a few things on the list for ideas. I still have a big West Coast Pale Ale on tap, still have some of the Yuengling Clone and just about to tap a Standard American Lager for Father's Day. I have a pack of Notty on hand from a recent order, I don't have to use it but...

Re: Yuenling Clone
Updating this for myself as well. This came out pretty nice. I think 10% Caramunich is just a bit over the top, I like a blend of 5% each Caramunich and Crystal or I can try a lower Lovibond Caramunich, I think this was III. It was also a bit hoppier than usual, so between the maltiness and the hopp...

Re: Hazy IPA Kinda Thing
I am just updating this for myself, this did not last long and was so easy drinking. I think it missed the mark on a NEIPA but was a great session style hoppy ale. Loved the grist, loved the yeast and loved the hop character. Things I would adjust is try to get a little more body in there, maybe wit...

Re: CO2 shortage?
I haven't noticed or heard much about it in my area, my LHBS refills for $15. I have been fermenting, naturally carbonating and serving in my kegs for a while now so I just spund at the tail end of fermentation. The last co2 fill I had was last June when I set things all back up at the new house. Th...

Re: Isolation brewing
My LHBS is still open. Not sure how he's essential but he tweets out every day. He's willing to put orders on the sidewalk for pickup. I'm sure he's busy too! Same here. Up until this week, my LHBS was open as usual with some changes to store hours and limiting numbers in the store. He posts update...

Re: Isolation brewing
I have been on vacation this week....well, staycation to the max. The wife wasnt feeling well on top of it and the weather was shit so literally just a lot of nothing. I did some yard work the only nice day we had this week. I brewed a NEIPA last Sunday and a big Old School Pale Ale today. So when t...

Re: Isolation brewing
I brewed on Sunday and as long as my LHBS has supplies to put something together I would like to brew again later in the week. I think my Double Pale Ale sounds about right.

Re: Hazy IPA Kinda Thing
Sunday turned into a bit of a long day. I wasnt sure what time I was going to get started so I didnt really set myself up, I extended the mash for a 30 min rest at 163*, then a mashout, the 30 min Whirlpool hop addition at 175*. It was a bit of a messy batch for the RoboBrew...there was some extra c...

Re: Hazy IPA Kinda Thing
I think I will follow what I did on a beer a while back where I did 6 oz as a 30 min hopstand starting at 180*. I have the capability to keep temps at 175* or 180* while I whirlpool if I want so I think I will do that. I remember that beer and the incredible hop character and aroma that really poppe...

Re: Hazy IPA Kinda Thing
So have you guys done any hops added for bittering at 60 or even 30mins of the boil or have you guys done all hop stand or whirlpool additions? I have never not added hops to the boil. I am thinking just a small 30 min addition just to give it some backbone.

Re: Hazy IPA Kinda Thing
Thanks for the tips, I do plan on dry hopping early. As for yeast, it's not anything special nor do I think it will add anything to the beer. It's a dry version German Ale yeast, I have made some nice beers with it and chose to use it here simply because it stays put in the beer for that haze. Other...

Hazy IPA Kinda Thing
This is a style I haven't gotten into lately, the ones I have had locally are very poor examples...just an oxidized, dark, murky mess with vegetal hop character. So, not saying I know anything about brewing one up myself but I feel I can do better, so I am going to go for one this weekend. Looking a...
