Re: Hops - How Old is Too Old?

I do the same thing Chris... And while I will keep sealed packs (and have) for a couple of years, (even three...), the opened ones quickly begin to oxidate starting the day they are opened imho. Having said that, if they start to smell cheesy, or 'of the freezer'... (You know that smell...), then to...

Re: Experimental Cold Steeped Dry Stout

Looks great Dave, congrats! Are you gonna cellar a few bottles by chance? I'ld be curious to see how they fare with some age on 'em too... Hey, FYI I popped open a bottle of this to see what it's doing and it hasn't lost anything. Cold steep isn't keeping it from aging well. It's still nice....

Re: VOTE FOR THE SEPTEMBER 2016 BeerBorg BREWER OF THE MONTH

Wait a second, how did my name get in there? I should have read the nominations thread. I urge all of my supporter to vote for anyone that will send me a homebrew! Your name is in there because people want you to send me your barrel, so I can get in it and go over Niagara falls, but I apparently am...

Re: Spruce Beer and Scurvy?

I think if one is going to make a spruce beer, one must take care to not use too much and to only use the new growth sprigs... I had a local homebrewers spruce pale ale about two years ago... Initial tasting was about 4 ounces and was pretty impressive... Piney, woodsy... Overall, not too bad... Unf...

Re: Testing Help Wanted

Not good on iPad2 with latest release (iOS 9.3.5) Screenshot below... Functionally, it seems to work (although I don't know for sure as I haven't seen anybody on it to test with) BUT: It locates itself at the bottom of the forum window/frame. Since my setup has the latest messages on top, having it ...

Re: Troegs Perpetual IPA Clone

Not too often you see the majority of the grain bill as Pilsner in an IPA. Should be nice and dry @ 148 deg. mash. Hmmm, really? I guess, now that you mention it, most people use some sort of pale malt... I use Pilsner exclusively... Even in darker beers like porters, stouts, reds, scotch ales, etc...
