In two weeks I'm going to be brewing my Sunshine Ale, a nice, balanced little lawnmower beer of Pilsen, wheat, and Carapils, some dried peel of lemon and bitter orange, hopped with Cascade in the boil and Citra in the whirlpool and dry hop. Ferment with Notty. The twist this time around is that I'm ...

Re: My Zymatic Experience
I've read a lot of owner feedback and the incidence of having to send back for repairs seems high to me. Of course. It's mostly the people who have trouble who post reviews so... I have gone back and forth with customer service and still don't have the firmware updated. I'm going to try it on my HP ...

Re: My Zymatic Experience
I really like my Z, have had it about a year and a half. At least, I liked it when it worked. I found the cleanup pretty painless, and I liked the reproducibility of my recipes and being able to walk away from it. I did learn to put a towel on the floor to catch any incidental drips and minor overfl...

Re: More good news!
They tried to get rid of the "Zion Curtain" (a 7 foot high wall that protects children from being traumatized by seeing a drink poured) this past legislative session, but didn't get it done. We still have this type of thing in Indiana too. Some restaurants use a wall, others a simple rail...

Re: Thermapen - worth the money?
It's a luxury, but I love mine. I trust its accuracy, and I use it for more than beer. It's great for checking meat, my keezer temp, water off the boil when my tea has to be just so... Just kidding, I rarely drink tea. I drink beer! But my nephew is an anglophile and he uses his thermapen (which I b...

Re: Mosaic Pale Ale - Golden Promise
I used Golden Promise in my MacPherson Scottish Wee Heavy at Christmas and the consensus among the Scottish Ale lovers was that the previous year's version was better, with Maris Otter and American 2-row. It just had... I don't know... a weird sweetness even though it fully attenuated. I think it st...

It’s all good
I started my current job last August. My boss was a professional acquaintance before I started working for him. He has been hinting, making jokes about me bringing beer to staff meetings or a party. He even brought it up in my latest performance appraisal. So last week I brought him a sixer of the l...

Aw, Jim. No words can make it better. But I pray that you will go in peace, and that your family will experience comfort beyond their understanding.

Re: Just curious
I'm mumble, mumble years old, and I've been brewing about 6 years now, near as I can figger. Started with a Mr. Beer kit for Christmas from my BFF. She just shakes her head at what she unleashed.
