My Basic Recipe Thread
Don't want to start a new thread each time I have a basic recipe.
So I will post some here.
CanGer Wheat:
1 Bavarian HME
1 Canadian HME
1 booster
2 yeast (mr beer)
Turned out good after 8 weeks, but not great.

Fill with mingled cream and amber,
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain.
Quaintest thoughts — queerest fancies,
Come to life and fade away:
What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today.

Robusterfest
1 Ocktoberfest HME
1 Robust LME
mr beer yeast
Decent after 4 weeks, but a bit watery. Next time it should get at least 1/2# DME.
Aug15th Edit:
This one needs 7-8 weeks for the cideryness to subside and the coffee flavor to shine.

Bavarian Perle
1 Bavarian HME
.5 oz Perle
1 mr beer yeast
2T cracked coriander into the boiling water
I pitched this one a little hot (71 degrees) but that gave me great banana/colve flavors.
SWMBO has dubbed this my best beer yet!

Re: My Basic Recipe Thread
Lime Cerveza
1 Mexican Cerveza HME
Juice and zest of 2 limes
I rolled the limes around between my hand and the counter top, this is supposed to help release the oils in the zest.
This is a very light beer, kinda watery, but the lime flavor was spot on. SWMBO loves it, especially because it is such a light beer. So I guess this batch was for her.
If I made this again I would add 1# of DME, and pump up the carbonation a tad.

I did sort of the same thing. But added light DME and cascade hops was not light and the wife loved it too.jpsherman wrote:Lime Cerveza

Defibrillator Doppelbock Mod
1 Winter Dark Ale HME
1 Robust LME
1 Smooth LME (instead of using booster)
This thing nearly overflowed the LBK.
Very tasty after just 2 months in bottle. FGood coffee bitterness, followed by a warming feeling. A bit of alcohol bite.

Re: My Basic Recipe Thread
To see bow the Northwest Pale Ale will do as a foundation for other recipes, I brewed this:
2.86 lb can NWPA, 0.5 lb light DME, S-04 yeast, fermented at about 70F
OG=1.065, predicted IBU=44, predicted SRM=5, predicted ABV=6.3%, actual FG=1.014, actual ABV=6.7%
I'm pretty happy with the result: very tasty, flavor like Cascade, balanced bitterness but with a malty presence, but the color is closer to SRM=10.

Re: My Basic Recipe Thread
I love me some Columbus hops and after less than a month in the bottle this already tastes amazing. Its my mod of the mr.beer recipe by dumping plenty of hops.
Suprisingly this has delicious hoppy flavor with less bitterness than I expected, but still has a malty flavor to it. May be a new favorite.
