2 Crazy Sisters Barleywine brewed 12-10-16 by 12-18 it had gone from 1.100 to 1.015 and I moved it to secondary which was a purged corny keg. 1-22-17 it was at 1.011 and I added 2.5oz medium toast oak cubes. Dropped it in the keezer 4-05-17. At 12% this is scary smooth!! I let Jody taste it and she ask if it was beer. Yeah it's that good!

I've poured a glass of my Fermata Nowhere lager just so I can see what it tastes like at mid-lager after 10days at 33ºF in the fermenter. It's in the keg where it'll sit another 2 weeks or so at 33ºF before I even think about it again. Then it goes into the kegerator (affectionately named Leann, which is Scots Gaelic for beer) at 38ºF for serving.

It's fairly clear already but could go some more. It's tasty, and definitely not an ale. If this turns out well I really want to do a Dunkel later in the summer. My niece got married 2 weeks ago and I promised I'd send them 2-4 bottles of each month's brew through their first married year. She always writes thank you notes, so at least I'll hear from her once in awhile out there in Colorado Springs. They like porters and stouts but they'll try anything I recommend or make.

Nice, Jeff. That's like the Pliny I scored about a month ago - crazy fresh.

Yesterday I imbibed a Simply Simarillo (session IPA) while smoking a couple a trip tips for dinner.

Except for one time, every time I've bought that kit (the NB equivalent one) I've used it to make 2 or 3 beers. One time straight up taught me a lesson. It was a tasty lesson, but also a painful one LOL.

I'd take one or two of those! Probably easier going down than this Red Label I'm nursing..... Went outside earlier to work in garden... wow, I could see my breath! Went back in and figured I'd just hit the serious warmer-upper.

So, I'm drinking the Levitation like clones I made with U1/108 and N1/69 experimental South African hops.

Both of them are perfectly fine beers, but not very exciting on their own. As in they are more like an old school American pale/amber ale, and perfectly fine ones... if this was 20 years ago. There isn't anything wrong with them, they are easy to drink... but they don't make me go :jumpy:

Basically, these hops don't seem to have the flavor/aroma "punch" that something like Citra has, at least not at the same quantities.

I blended them together and I like the blend better then either beer on it's own, so I think I will just blend them as I drink them going forward.

I think they will be perfectly fine in a beer that is nothing but pils or wheat + the hops. Like a Saison. I think that's what I'll do with the rest.
