A little disappointed at my own carelessness. I brewed a Pilsner today, an extract batch. Transferring to the fermenter, I thought it looked darker than expected. Checked the bottom of the can of Briess Pilsen LME that I used. Manufactured date: May 14, 2014.
Just bought it at my LHBS last week. Should've checked the date before purchasing. My bad!

I don't buy any pilsner LME in a can. Pilsner extract goes bad way faster then any other kind. I will only buy it in bulk from a place that turns it over like crazy. I like the stuff MoreBeer sells in bags. It's always fresh and always ferments out well.

I made me some Belgian stout.

I'd let your LHBS know that they are selling crap old stock. If they are fair, they'll give you another can. If not, at least you know you may have helped another, fellow brewer if (maybe a big if) they decide to check their stock.

Just got done brewing my Funky Farmhouse Saison. Cooling down now in a ice bath and with a new wort chiller Silver Serpent. Re hydrating the Belle now.

I love it when a plan comes together and everything goes smooth. Brought the re-hydrated Belle down to 68 deg and pitched in 68 deg wort. Just what I wanted.

Since it is so damn hot and the water from the outside fawcet isn't that chilly any more, gonna use the old immersion chiller in a cooler of ice as a pre-chiller before running it thru the CF Chiller.

I'm partly thru the boil on my Hippity Hoppity Hybrid Pale Ale (that's not really pale) and already drank so much water I don't know where it goes but out the pores.
I have 40 lbs of ice ($3) in an ice chest and I get my water wort down to about 105 or so then use the pump and the ice to get it to 65 or so.
40 lbs is more than I need but after I think I'll just sit my arse in the ice chest to keep me cool.

Please don't re-use the ice after that.

My dog ate a good bit of the ice but I did keep my clothes on when I sat on it.

I hear you on the water Paul, I think I drank a gallon throughout the brewing session. My version of 4 Kilts Clueless Belgian is in the fermenter, quickest brewday I have ever had doing AG, 4 h 5m equipment cleaned and stored, wort hit with oxygen and the yeast pitched. But messed up a bit on the recipe as I posted in Adv. Recipe section, which has been edited, thought I was going to add the 3/4 lbs of Marris Otter I have stashed, but forgot to mill it, then I swapped the 5 min. and flameout hops and nearly forgot to add the Dark Belgian Rock Candi sugar, so my flameout became 2 mins. to give the Candi about 5 or 6 minutes to dissolve in the boil.
:?
Overall I'm happy with it target was 1.075, hit 1.072 and volume target was 5.75 had 5.87 in the bucket.

That's fast Steve. And we hope to brew this in the next 2-3 weeks.
Usually I have RedBEERd with me and we can keep it to 4 hours but I needed an extra half hour to clean up but I did take my time.
I lost track of how much water I drank but I know I never got hungry and made sure I kept drinking till it wanted to leave me. I'm waiting to get a bit more hydrated before I hit the afternoon adult beverages.

I have 3G of Twisted Monk brewing for my wife. Pitched with WLP400 and it's had a nice thick krasuen at 72 for a few days now. No rush since I plan on letting it sit until December until she drinks it. I made the mistake of keggin the last batch I made for her (bought them on sale for cheap a while ago) and it hogged my keg for months. Bottles this time!
