Looks great Tony I would like to do another nut brown, but so many beer styles to do and try and drink, but I tryTonyKZ1 wrote:I got this bottled Saturday, it went pretty smooth. The sample tasted good, so in a few weeks, I'll chill it and start enjoying it.

The reset on the mash and boil is there to prevent damage if you ever forget to add water.
Like that would ever happen.
Ok. Maybe once.
Definitely once.
But it seems to trip more often due to scorching. On the fb page, a lot of people appear to be bypassing it with no problems.

I've actually only had it happen twice, both were roggenbiers with 60% rye and one of them had juniper fronds/berries (resin) in it as well which I'm sure didn't help. That one had a 1/4" thick burned on cake of sticky goo so it probably did actually trip for a good reason.bpgreen wrote: But it seems to trip more often due to scorching. I've never had it happen with a 60% wheat beer. Only with rye.

Clean as a whistle. I usually have a little after the boil but not during the mash. I'm anal about cleaning it before/after use.mashani wrote:Was anything scorched to the bottom of that grainfather? That is normally what would trigger the reset on a Mash & Boil.

Seems Mr. Grainfather is working today after the *reset*. I'm doing a CreamAle at da moment and so far.... all is good. Got me fingers crossed!

Happy that all it was a easy fix and now you know. Where is the the reset located on a Grain Father, Is it easy to get at? Not real easy to get at on the Mash&boil, but I have it now so I can reset it easy if needed.FrozenInTime wrote:Seems Mr. Grainfather is working today after the *reset*. For the not so blind, it's a tiny nib, or button dead center on the bottom. Did not look like a button, but it is... LOL Well, full of wort, it's hard to pick it up and reset without spilling some precious liquid. They should have mounted it on the side, easy to access.berryman wrote:Where is the the reset located on a Grain Father, Is it easy to get at? On our M&B's it's a little post sticking out in an indent in the bottom. It is hard to push, it hurts my finger.
Anyways, I bottled my Kolsch, which somehow has what seems to be slight banana esters, and I don't know why or how, since it fermented at like 57 degrees. Maybe they will go away, I dunno.

Re: What are you brewing/bottling/kegging?
I put my mash and boil on a wire printer cart to make it easier to get to the reset.

Kegged the Dunkelweizen today. It came out just a little higher OG and a little lower FG then planned, but the sample sure tasted good. Will see in a week what it tastes like.

I think I am going to really like this beer, but trying to figure why with 11 lbs grain I over shot OG and one 11 pack of of WB-06 I got so low. mashed at 152, fermented @68.mashani wrote:
