Re: What are you drinking?
Very interesting outing with Bootleg Biology tonight. Went to the Warner Park Nature Center (Warner Park is a nearly 3000 acre park in Nashville... pretty nice place) and attended the session on harvesting yeast from your backyard (or, in this case, from the park). Jeff Mello gave a nice presentation on the "why" of harvesting local yeast, the history of brewing, and the process. Then we took to the park and found some things to harvest... honeysuckle, peppers, paw paw, and pumpkin flowers were among the harvested items that Jeff and his crew will attempt to pull some yeast from.
After that, we ventured inside for a beer tasting of various styles of beer that draw character from yeast...
Upstream, a steam beer from Little Harpeth in Nashville
American Kolsch from Boulevard in Kansas City
Hefeweisen from Yazoo in Nashville
Saison Dupont from Brasserie Dupont in Tourpes, Hainaut Belgium
Organic Pale Ale from Samuel Smith's Old Brewery in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire England
Cherry Berliner Weiss by Honky Tonk Brewing in Nashville
I also opened one of my Bootleg Biology s.arlingtenensis lagers with Jeff and a few others after the event. And (embarrasingly) I finally passed along Inkleg's beers to Jeff (along with the two beers I brewed with the Bootleg yeasts). Was good to be back out in the world again after being homebound for 10 days...

Re: What are you drinking?
Ok, not so much drinking as took two sips. It was an impulse novelty buy.
Too sweet to be a beer. Maybe decent as a mixer with some vodka.
Moving on...

Liter of Reissdorf Kolsch at Von Elrods before the Nashville Soccer Club game at 1stTN. Love this place. True German community table beer hall vibe inside and out. Literally at the entrance to 1stTN. Next time you are all in town we are definitely coming here...

Re: What are you drinking?
Football season starting, so I'm breaking my self imposed 'I shall open no ofest beer until September' rule. I may have bought way too many ofest beers this week... #theMostWonderfulTimeOfTheBeerYear. #dontNeedBeerButCantResist
I think we shall start with Sierra and Nashville Brewing Co...

Re: What are you drinking?
This was on the mixer shelf during my o-fest buy from this week. Haven't tried any of the variants up until this point, but was curious. Actually not bad. Definitely get a lot of Jim Beam in this, especially as it warms. Roasty, malty, really not bad.
