Every day has gotten better though. On Monday I got the stitches removed, and they were happy enough with my progress to release me to the next appointment being 3 months out. They said that though they do this surgery a few times a month, mine was one of the largest ones they had done, and they seemed just stunned by how quickly I recovered and how it has turned out aesthetically. Right now, ear and surrounding is still numb, but less so every day. Eye is still not perfect, but better each day. I'm essentially off of meds and have been back to work (working from home due to my eye having problems with light... again, better every day, but still not comfortable with 50 miles of driving a day yet) all week.

Tomorrow, 10 days after what my doctors described as a pretty major surgery, I plan to go to a Bootleg Biology hike at Warner Park to harvest yeast and drink Mantra beer. I feel extremely fortunate to say that I've been able to make this kind of turnaround. It's been a crazy month, but seems that all is now well
Glad to hear things are looking better for you Swen..............

This September is going to be a good month.

Today is my daughter and son-in-law's third anniversary.

Next Saturday, we'll be having a party/family reunion to celebrate my mom's 90th birthday. Children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will be there.

Good things are happening, and it makes me happy.

I can't believe this thread has been dormant this long.

I haven't been on much lately because my current client blocks certain websites. I can understand their doing that while I'm on their network, but somehow it became "sticky" and was blocking me even when I wasn't using their VPN or working in the office (working about half time remote and half time on site). So I was only able to browse while using my phone for a while. I think I have it fixed, at least for now.

Some time back, I dumped 3 really nice glass fermentation weights into the compost when I emptied out the Mash & Boil. I didn't realize it until after I'd turned the compost a few times, so I figured they were gone for good.

Last weekend, while planting garlic, I turned the soil and heard a clink. Looked down and found the third missing weight. Cleaned it off and soaked it in bleach, then stuck it in the dishwasher.

Since I'm traveling more now, I'm not really fermenting many vegetables, but it's nice to know I've got the weights again once I've got the time to get back to it.

It sucks when my beer fridge. gets too full of eggs to put much beer in it. I guess I will have to take a trip to the produce auction to unload some. Have 27 doz in there right now.

Cool, glad to hear they are doing so well. I pretty much started over again after a big varmint invasion. Make a lot of pickled eggs, I usually do 4 dozen at a shot and give lots away. Fire eggs go great with beer! Actually I have not seen my chicks for awhile, been traveling, in Seattle now. Be nice to go home again.... for a week. Maybe get some bow hunting done, then off again.

I'm going to wait until I taste the no-boil "raw" beer in a week or so, if it works out, I think a no-boil "raw" Brut IPA will happen. Seems to be the absolute perfect beer to do that with since many recipes for them are just whirlpool additions anyway.

IE just dump in a crap ton of Hallertau Blanc and Nelson Sauvin hops @150 after the long mash, toss on the lid, and let it slow-chill overnight which should pasteurize anything that came along with the hops. Then just rack to my fermenter and pitch some S-05 yeast and that vial of BRUTalness.

Yeah, I just can't do anything the normal way LOL.
