I'll be doing a 3 gallon batch and Brewer's Friend suggests 8.0 lbs gives me a 7ish ABV.
I'm thinking more 25ish for the IBU but not sure yet.
Looking for a nice malty winter beer with this but I might dry hop with some of the EKG to keep it interesting.

Yes but using the "extra work" method.

Reading the booklet that comes with the Mash & Boil it states "You can make either a 2 1/2 gallon or 5 gallon batch in the Mash & Boil."
I sure hope a 3 gallon batch works. :)

Here is were I'm at so far. 5 Lbs red X SMaSH with Willamette and 04, on a 2.5 gal. Going to try the full volume no-sparge, will start with 3.5 and see if I get a .5 boil off or more with that amount - .5 kettle loss and put it in a LBK (haven't used one of them in a long time). Sill figuring to keep the IBU's in the low 20's.

I know I don't have one yet, but from what I've read those are the numbers I would use.
Question: Have you accounted for grain absorption?

Yes, I will use 4 gal strike on this placing it at 16 oz per.lb. absorption. I might be off on my calculations. Should read 4 gal and 16oz. I have never tried this before as always done 5 gal with a sparge on between .30 and .35 per lb. will be fun to try and see where it goes. Been wanting to try it as a lot of others are using it this way. Why I am only doing a 2.5 on this, but really think it will work out.

Just doing #'s in my head based on how it works for me, I think you should start with ~4.25 gallons unless you don't care if you need to tip it a little bit to get the full 2.5 gallons out. If you don't care about tipping and getting some kettle trub in, I think the 4 will still work and you'll get a higher OG.

Nice! You make me proud. ) What are you brewing?
Is that a LHBS hop pack? Never heard of that company if it's a hop seller.

I've got some 4 oz packs of a number of different hops I'll be playing with in the coming months. Medusa, Southern Passion, Zappa and Hop Hash packs of El Dorado, Comet and Idaho 7. Plus I'm going to use some hop resin for bittering.

I am really starting to think there is a ghost in my Basement/Bar that likes beer. I go upstairs and the next day in the afternoon I want one and wonder where it all disappeared.

Ok I am big on keeping brewing interesting if you like/want to stay at it. I am going to try something I said I probably wouldn't maybe ever do. KEG time for me. My wife likes to buy things for me for brewing, but knows I have so much stuff and has no clue on what I could use. She was going to buy me a kegerator for Christmas from Amazon but it was sold out and she showed me. It would have worked but too small for what I'd rather have if I went this way, happy she didn't but got me thinking that I should. I always bottle and one of the last from the MB days that still do. But things have changed for me now that I am retired and use to take all kinds of bottle beer to my friends at work. Now it's just me and the neighbours and this could make my beer brewing and drinking life so much easier. I may have a couple questions but have been around you guys for so long and have read so much along the way I really think I got it covered. I'm thinking 3-4 tap will work for me, but with room for more. Here we go again on spending big money and haven't in a couple years.

You'll never regret it. The time you save from bottling you can be brewing another batch. Glad to hear things are going in that direction for you.
