Snowed in, Maybe

Post by berryman »

Has been sounding like the next few days here in western NY a little south of lake Erie and Buffalo is going to get hit hard with snow and winds, maybe 2 ft. and up to 40" In the higher elevations where I am at. So what to do? Brew some beer of course, have a starter made and is working and going to make a Irish Stout tomorrow. As long as if we don't lose power because I have all electric brewing now, but I do have a back-up generator and would use that if needed. Beer will be brewed.

Yikes. That's a lot of snow. We are right on the line of demarcation where I am. If the storm tracks as predicted, we could see 3 inches; if it tracks 40 miles to the south, it's up to 9 inches; if it tracks 40 miles to the north, it's rain and ice. Then it's frigid and windy on Monday. 20 below with the wind chill. Any way I look at it, it's gonna suck, but not as bad as it's gonna suck for you Berryman. Stay warm and I hope the power stays on.

BD, has that storm got to you yet? How I always figure when we are going to get hit. Goes along the lake, my wife's relatives on the Ohio PA border are the first to tell, then her brother in Erie PA is next to say. how I tell when it will be here and we are the dumping ground off the lake and get the max here. Wife wants to go to town tomorrow and I told her she better go early in the morning because she won't be happy driving later on.

Its supposed to turn cool and windy after a front comes thru tomorrow but it'll still be in the low 40's Sunday. I don't like it but can live with it. You guys could too! :)

I could really deal with the 40's could just wear my light jacket, or maybe even just my wool shirt and long johns of course. Not bad here right now about 28 and no wind, but calling for -3 Mon and that is F'ing cold.

It's not here yet. Our winter storm warning doesn't officially start until 4am Saturday. The latest is saying heavy mixed precipitation, snow accumulation of 4 to 7 inches and ice accumulation of .10 of an inch. Good luck Brother!!!

Steve and I are in the somewhere between anywhere from 10-20" range (edit: maybe less now, it seems to be looking to miss us to the north at the beginning), but either way with maybe a hella lot more from lake effect after the storm heads over to Berryman depending on how "lucky" we are. But then by the time it gets to Berryman, his OH and PA people will be getting hammered with the same lake effect if it happens.

Worst I've seen in a day because of said lake effect was 4 feet. That was fun.

On a positive note, I will be able to get out my ski's next week finally.

Oh joy! Hopefully you didn't get hit too hard. Brewing sounds like the best resolution! Last night we got a few inches in Chicago. Still snowing this morning and will until around noon. I too will be brewing a batch until then. :). It's shoveling after that.

Seems like the storm has shifted north a bit. We’ve got rain right now. Supposed to rain most of the day and turn to snow early this evening. According to the radar, it looks like it’s snowing about 20 miles to the north of me. So we are still right on that snow/rain line. And any slight shift could change things quickly.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow......
