Hop picking Day
Got a message from local brew pub that sponsors the home brew club that I belong to saying that the Barber's Garden Hops were ready and they needed help picking them.
These are hops the the barber that is the next door neighbor to Liberty Street Brewing planted many years ago. No one really knows what kind they are but we suspect that they might be a Cascade and or Galaxy hop mix.
The hops are picked then dried and stored until they can brew with them in about a month.
All of these hops will be use in a what the call the Barber's Garden IPA, it is a limited run special of Liberty Street Brewing.

Awesome... I attended the first Yazoo hop picking, but had conflicts on the second one. Had a lot of fun picking hops and shooting the $h!t...

I want to smell your hands.
Re: Hop picking Day
All of this hops pr0n lately is not cool! Totally wishing I had some of my own to pick, or if there were a brewery nearby that I could help pick some for.

I have to assume that "not cool" really means "totally cool". Or "I'm jealous".

Ive always envied the brewmaster at Frankenmuth. He heads up to pick up a couple hundred pounds of fresh hops and has to make the four hour trip back down with the windows up without stopping to keep them as fresh as possible for brewing the second he sets foot in the brewery. The smell must just be amazing on that trip! It certainly doesnt get any fresher than that!JimH wrote:Makes me want to grow my own hops!! Frankenmoose!!
I always knew they'd make a great air freshener. I'd definitely love that smell. My wife on the other hand, not so much.
